We had an excellent time,...

Liked: Almost everything
Disliked: a) The lighting, the Anglepoise lamps did nothing to enhance the character of the room. Our friends in the Wren room said the lamps weren't light enough. b) A mirror that you could see in above the basin rather than the silly convex one would have been useful.

Exceptional

Liked: During the two-day stay at Close Hotel, I felt the sincerity that the hotel brings to its guests. The historic building, comfortable interior decoration, delicious and just right food, and most importantly, the service and communication skills of the staff, everything is perfect!

I will certainly stay there...

Liked: The location - In the centre of Tetbury and within easy striking distance of the rest of the CotswoldsStylish and cosy hotel blending ancient with modern. Staff v pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the hotel itself. If anything the restaurant let the hotel down. The staff were excellent but the food wasn’t always as described on the menu. Boiled new potatoes didn’t taste fresh; marinated tomatoes replaced with fresh and toast burnt underneath the smashed avocado

Disappointed with overall experience. Food...

Liked: The location, the building and the garden
Disliked: We hadn’t told them we wanted a bath but reception did give us a room with a bath. It was a bit tired with chipped paint and with a big gap over the door so quite noisy. Couldn’t find any usb charging points and sockets were few and far between. Felt we couldn’t complain as they had accommodated us, but were very disappointed as it didn’t represent good value for money

Good quality, reasonably priced stay...

Liked: Lovely tea and coffee facilities in the roomLiked having lots of choice at breakfast!Lovely having robes to wear in the room
Disliked: We were given a room on the ground floor next to the gents room. The room was noisy at night and could hear people talking and floorboards creaking from people walking around in the room above us. The ear buds and sleep mask were a nice touch but weren’t great quality and did not work. Tv was on the wall to the side of the bed so couldn’t watch tv comfortably. No windows in the room for us to look out of. The windows were frosted looking out into a courtyard which I understand why but wasn’t nice having no view and felt too enclosed.
