The Spotlight on Clifton Hotel

Classic Charm Meets Live Music Convenience in Bristol

Modern comforts meet traditional style at the Clifton Hotel, a Grade II listed building in one of Bristol's most vibrant neighborhoods. Tucked away in Clifton, just a short walk from the city center and Clifton Village, this hotel blends historic character with warm, friendly service. Whether you're in town for a sold-out gig or a relaxed music weekend, it’s a solid base with personality.

The rooms are individually decorated with a cozy British charm, and you'll find modern touches like flat-screen TVs, WiFi, fresh tea and coffee, and luxury toiletries. Executive Doubles even come with a mini-bar and Roberts digital radio—ideal for winding down post-show.

Check-in starts from 15:00, giving you time to settle in before heading out, and check-out is a leisurely 11:00, perfect after a late night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a 20-minute walk from Bristol’s buzzing city center, where many of the city's best live music venues are located. After the show, head back to a quieter part of town for a good night’s sleep. The hotel’s 24/7 front desk means you won’t be locked out no matter how late the encore goes. Late-night food and a relaxed vibe make it easy to keep the music going or wind down at your own pace.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends wanting a sociable, budget-friendly base
  • Solo travelers in town for that once-in-a-lifetime gig
  • Couples turning a concert into a weekend getaway
  • Fans looking for a quieter spot to decompress after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want style and comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Racks Bar and Kitchen serves a modern European menu and is a favorite for its heated terrace—perfect for a post-gig bite or pre-show drinks. Cooked breakfasts are available for those late mornings after a long night. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the bar stays open late, and Clifton Village offers several walkable dining options.

Nightlife Options

Enjoy drinks at Racks before heading out—it's a lively spot in its own right. The hotel is also within walking distance of bars, pubs, and lounges in both Clifton and the Harborside area. Whether you're after a quiet pint or an all-night dance party, you’ll find something nearby.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, quirky charm, and great location. Many mention the hotel’s character and comfy beds as highlights, with extra points for the excellent food at Racks. It’s often praised for being a good value stay in one of Bristol’s prettiest neighborhoods.

Areas for Improvement

Some rooms are a little snug and could use an update—but most guests agree the charm and location more than make up for it. The parking is limited and not guaranteed, so leave the car at home if you can.

The Bottom Line

The Clifton Hotel offers music fans a stylish, affordable, and well-located base with character and late-night flexibility—ideal for concert-goers looking to enjoy Bristol’s music scene.

A pleasant room well located...

Liked: The beds were comfortable The location was nice
Disliked: Whereas I had asked for 2 beds to be made up,just 1 bed was made up,the receptionist was not very nice at all saying she hadn’t had any communication regarding this,I showed her the message I sent on the 15th of February,so she finally made up the 2 beds.In order to access the switches for the overhead lamps, the beds have to be made up into 2,otherwise you just don’t see them! The room is very small, there is hardly any place to put your stuff

Good spot for a short...

Liked: good location, proximity to Bristol Lido and Clifton Square. The pub/restaurant within the building is great.
Disliked: building is old, my (single) room smelt musty, i left the window open all day just to get rid of the smell.

Good

Liked: Decent location, friendly staff, adequate facilities. I liked the bar.
Disliked: Little bit small. The shower and toilet felt cramped, and I didn't like the lack of a shower head. As I said quite small. The room also let in a lot of light in the morning. The windows could do with blinds in addition to curtains, or blackout curtains. Moreover, I checked under the bed as I was leaving (to ensure I didn't drop anything), and I noticed an ample, eye drops and a can of Pepsi coke under the bed. So could clean under the bed. But the rest felt clean, and despite staying 2 nights my room was cleaned which I appreciate. However, they should look under the beds.

Good

Liked: I liked the location, I liked the bed and the easy to access cafe
Disliked: The water would change temperature abruptly from cold to extremely hot an vice versa, slippers would be nice and if windows would be more sound proof. But overall, everything was great, these are just suggestions!
