The Spotlight on The Chicago Hotel Collection Ambassador Gold Coast

Stylish Gold Coast Stay Near the Music Scene

Modern and full of character, The Chicago Hotel Collection Ambassador Gold Coast offers a boutique hotel experience in one of the city's most elegant neighborhoods. Nestled in the historic Gold Coast, this hotel combines vintage charm with updated comforts, making it a cozy yet chic retreat after a big night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

You're just minutes from some of Chicago’s most iconic music venues and nightlife hotspots. Despite the central location, the hotel sits on a quieter street, so post-show downtime is easy to come by. With check-in at 3:00 PM and checkout at 12:00 PM, there's no rush the morning after the concert. Plus, ride-shares and public transit are readily available for late-night returns.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the stylish shared spaces and walkable nightlife.
Solo travelers can appreciate the safe, upscale neighborhood.
Couples making a weekend of it will enjoy the romantic Gold Coast atmosphere.
Fans needing a quiet recovery space will find the peaceful location ideal.
Budget-conscious music lovers get a boutique vibe without breaking the bank.

Food and Drink Options

Hungry after the encore? You’re covered. While there’s no full-service restaurant on-site, the hotel offers an assortment of accessible and delicious meal choices at your convenience. You’re also within walking distance of plenty of late-night eateries and cafes. Morning-after breakfast options are plentiful nearby or just a quick delivery away.

Nightlife Options

The hotel itself leans more toward relaxed vibes, but step outside and you’re close to Gold Coast lounges, rooftop bars, and classic Chicago cocktail spots. Whether you’re up for a nightcap or dancing into the early hours, the neighborhood offers something for every mood.

What People Say

Guests love the classic architecture with modern touches and the location’s balance of quiet charm and easy access to Chicago’s energy. Many highlight the friendly service and clean, comfortable rooms as standout features. The Gold Coast setting earns extra points for being both scenic and safe.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers note that the hotel doesn’t offer extensive on-site amenities like a large restaurant or bar. Also, the historic building means not every room layout is the same, so space and features can vary. But for most, the charm outweighs these quirks.

The Bottom Line

A stylish, well-located hotel that gives concert-goers a cozy, quiet place to crash—without missing a beat of the Chicago music scene.

I was very impressed with the experience at Public Hotel. The staff greeted us at the door and were very polite. The rooms were clean and large in size. I would definitely recommend it to friends and it was a great experience.

Liked: The staff was nice, the rooms were very clean and the decor was modern and stlyish.
Disliked: None.

Liked: Location was convenient to places we needed to go. Most of the staff were pleasant, not the person who checked us in.
Disliked: Upon check-in, I found out that I had booked a “package” including drinks at the bar and breakfast. I did not want these additional items. This was not shared with me when booking the room.

Unacceptable

Disliked: I reserved the hotel via Booking.Com on March 4,2025. At the time the property was part of the Hyatt hotel group. When I arrived at the property management & name been changed to the Chicago Hotel Collection. This hotel is no longer part of JdV by Hyatt yet Booking.com is still advertising it as such. There was a violation notice posted on the front door entrance. The lobby smelled of cleaning agents, the reception crew were rude. While I was sitting in the lobby I overheard a guest complaining to reception about the lack of cleanliness in the room, delay with cleaning the room, delay with room service and lack of maintenance. I decided not to stay and was fortunate to find another hotel nearby. I expect a full refund of my cancellation.

The hotel was nice, they...

Liked: It was clean and pictures on booking were accurate.
Disliked: They charged us $40 per day extra. Didn’t really tell us why, just said booking states the hotel can charge more (?). After we checked out, the receipt said “processing fee”, so why do they charge every day, they didn’t “process” us everyday day. Also, the staff wasn’t very friendly or very informative.

Terrible

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: I booked this room through Booking.Com. There was absolutely no mention in any of the 8 or so emails I received from them that your company/specific hotel was no longer doing business with Booking.Com.When my family arrived after driving from Louisville they were promptly told that they could not stay there due to no longer working with Booking.Com.They were never asked if they would like to book another room, nor were they ever given any other options or advice. Hospitality? I think not.I will be contacting your hotel so that I can discuss this matter further.
