A relaxing family visit in...
Liked: The location attracted my attention for our family get together, roughly half way for everyone. The name Cheshire Cat sounded different and the rooms were a little quirky. It’s not a large place which suited us. The food was great and the staff were very knowledgeable about their gluten free menu and were able to offer advice and help. The Cheshire Cat is on the outskirts of Chester and by the side of the canal. The canal path took us right into the centre and the park and ride was close by too. Our two nights flew past!
Disliked: It’s a minor point only but service on our second night was a little slow and the staff looked a little stressed. I think there was an issue with their electronic menu ordering system. The staff were very apologetic, it was outside their control and they obviously cared. So my negative is actually another positive.

Comfortable enough but wouldn’t particularly...
Liked: Clearly a lovely old building, lovely setting next to the canal and our room over looked the fields
Disliked: Unkempt area on the run up to the property, a ubiquitous new housing estate has been built literally on top of this property. The exit is awful onto the main road. Our bathroom also had a lot of peeling paint/plasterwork problems

Brilliant place to stay
Liked: We liked everything about this place, cosy, comfortable, not quite in the centre but only cost about £7-9 in an Uber and nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. You could also walk along the canal to get into the centre if you didn't want to pay for taxis, which took about an hour.Staff were warm and friendly, nothing was a bother to them. Room was comfortable and had everything in it that you needed for a few nights stay. Food was lovely, good choice on the menu. Beer garden was big and just had a lovely peaceful feeling to it.As it was warm, there was a fan in the room, however it didn't work, but it was replaced straight away. Would definitely stay here again.
Disliked: Can't say there was anything we didn't like.

Disliked: Didn't like the sausages and wished there was black pudding as I love the English black pudding.
