Great value, a friendly welcome...

Liked: Very handy location if you want somewhere near A34 & Didcot station, clean comfortable room and a friendly welcome. Room has character - oak beam ceiling, barely a level surface in the place ;)
Disliked: I hadn’t noticed that the pub downstairs isn’t open after 8 on a Monday so missed out on a pint or two before bedtime, my fault for not reading the description properly. Bed was quite soft for my taste as I prefer a firm mattress. Some inevitable road noise if you’re in a room overlooking the road through the village.

Basic but super comfortable and...

Liked: Shows it’s grand age in a quirky fashion - wobbly floorboards so floor on a slope in some spots - mind the glasses on the dressing tables, they will slide! Characterful interior with exposed beams. Feels homely and has a friendly atmosphere.Kayley arranged for the two rooms to face one another and the corridor was one way so we had privacy. There was little noise from the pub, surprisingly although the room at the front receives a lot of traffic din and the road is very busy. This didn’t bother my sister who actually likes background noise to sleep! My room was facing the rear courtyard and was peaceful. We slept very well. The reason I gave ‘fair’ for cleanliness is that the duvet in one room needs replacing - the bedding itself and towels were clean as were the showers and sinks. The pub has a great position in that the major roads are 5 mins away. The actual village green and area around is pretty and there are walks down Pugsden Lane leading to open countryside. Visit the Farmoor Reservoir - it’s very scenic. Use park and ride for Oxford as driving is manic in the city.
Disliked: The rooms were accessed via a fire escape so you need to be steady on your pins. This was good in one way in that we could come and go without disturbing anyone. My shower was stuck on super hot so I used the one in the other room we booked.

Liked: The property is in a great location in the Cotswolds and easy to get to Abingdon and Oxford. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. No issues checking in and happy to help with anything. Dogs welcome and there are good walks close by.Water, some chocolate, biscuits and tea and coffee available in the room. There were also some travel shampoo and shower gels. These were all nice touches.
Disliked: The bed is absolutely horrendous. It needs the mattress replacing or a large mattress topper. Every spring is coming through and incredibly bouncy. The rooms need some TLC as very dated and could be a fantastic place with just some updating and maintenance. The breakfast was ok just a bit over cooked, better than under, and staff again very helpful.

Wouldn’t go there again

Disliked: Accommodation tired and dingy. Cracked shower tray, black mould on grouting, loose toilet seat, dirty shower screen inside, dirty windows

Good

Liked: Great for what we wanted - visiting friends in the village. We stay here regularly, it's in the perfect location for us.
Disliked: The rooms are getting somewhat "tired" nowadays.
