The Chatsworth Hotel

Lovely hotel on Eastbourne's seafront

Liked: Hotel was right on the front with a good view of the sea. Ceiling height bay window so lots of light and a chaise longue from which to watch the world go by! The bathroom was large and clean with bath and fitted shower head which was a little high, but powerful. Bed was large and very comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities, which was handy as we did not take breakfast at the hotel. Staff were informative regarding restaurants and parking and very friendly! We ate a meal in the hotel on our last night and it was very good, with a jazz pianist playing into the bargain! Loved the old fashioned lift! Took me back to my first job in London many, many years ago!!
Disliked: Just little things really - Personally, I don't like a fixed shower head as I do not like to get my hair wet every time I shower. It would have been helpful if the separate shower had worked! There was compimentary shower gel and hair shampoo, but no body lotion!

Spacious hotel but breakfast letdown

Liked: The rooms are very spacious with plenty of room especially when travelling with a toddler. The staff were warm and welcoming and offered to show us to our room which was a nice touch. We booked a room with partial sea view and enjoyed having high ceilings and big windows.
Disliked: The breakfast was such a disappointment. I would go as far as saying awful. The breakfast quality did not match the wonderful service provided by the hotel - such a mismatch. My bread was mouldy (green mould), the breakfast buffet was poor quality food, scrambled eggs tasted cheap, sausages were tasteless and the whole spread was such a let down. It saddens me to say this because the rest of the hotel experience was lovely.

Disliked: Dirty carpet, dirty windows, chipping paint, inconvenient electrical outlets, meager furnishings, no baggage stand, tv did not work, no mirror over the sink

Liked: Nicest building on the seafront , tastefully and sympathetically decorated.Great sea views (and pier) from our room.
Disliked: Nothing, had what we wanted.

A very good stay for...

Liked: Conveniently located facing the sea. Spacious room, comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. Breakfast was very good in a dining room with nice decor. Special thanks to the friendly and helpful reception lady who took care of our luggage pre check-in and post check-out.
