Incredibly cheap for a clean...

Liked: Walking distance from everywhere downtown and the riverfront
Disliked: I like a lot of cities, Charleston has a lot of abandoned buildings and many homeless people. We met a lot of them walking around downtown. Be nice and buy some extra food and hook them up!

Liked: Close to work
Disliked: Renovating at the last minute and they moved me in the middle of my stay to the hotel next door. I wouldn’t have minded so much but I work nights and had to come in from work pack move with a hours notice and work the following night.

No notification of an emergency...

Liked: I made a reservation for this hotel a couple of months before my planned stay. When I arrived at 11:30 at night the building was dark and the parking lot was empty. A man came from a dark alley and advised me that the hotel was closed and all of the guests with reservations have to stay at the hotel next-door. I looked at the lobby entry doors and there was one piece of paper with a message that stated that all reservations were going to be at the hotel next-door due to this hotel having to close. I did not receive an email or a phone call or a text message about this sudden closing. I had just driven 14 hours to get there and had children children with me so I did not try to find another hotel. I just went to the hotel next-door that was taking in all of the reservations for the hotel that had closed up. This is the most ridiculous hotel stay I have ever booked. I would never have chosen the hotel next-door had I known about this closing in advance. The Charleston Tower Hotel should have called all of the people with reservations and let them know in advance about this emergency closing. Booking.com advised me that I could get a refund up to $70 for the first night of my stay since it was so late and it was a terrible inconvenience. Thebooking.com agent told me over the phone that all I had to do was submit an invoice after my stay at a hotel to get the refund. They later refused to give the refund.
Disliked: I did not like anything about this hotel because it closed a week before my reservation but the hotel failed to notify me or notify booking.com.I arrived late at night to a dark, empty hotel with a note on the door, telling me to check in at the hotel beside that one. The hotel had a plain closed man standing in the parking lot late at night, advising people to go into the hotel next-door. The man was very nice, but it was quite unsettling late at night in a dark parking lot. Booking.com told me that they would reimburse me for my first night’s stay at the other hotel. But when I submitted the invoice to them as they requested, they denied the refund. I will never use booking.com again nor why ever stay at the Charleston Tower hotel if it ever reopens.

Bad

Liked: Staff was friendly.
Disliked: We arrived at the property only for it to be shut down due to a major leak. There was a note on the door that said to go next door to the quality inn hotel for our reservation. We did not receive a call or anything about this issue. When we went to the hotel next door it was hot and muggy and everything was out of order and did not work. Our air conditioner did not start cooling the room til about 5 am and the box spring was broken on one bed causing a major dip. The room smelled like paint, multiple light bulbs were out and it was just overall a crappy experience. We got our original hotel room due to there being a pool since we have a child and when we went next door the pool was shut down as well. The staff was super nice but the overall quality was not great.
