The Spotlight on The Capitol Hotel Downtown Ascend Hotel Collection

Classic Comfort in the Heart of Music City

Modern meets traditional at The Capitol Hotel Downtown Ascend Hotel Collection, a cozy and convenient stay in downtown Nashville. With its unbeatable location just steps from the Tennessee State Capitol and within minutes of the city's top music venues, this hotel is a smart choice for anyone coming to town for a show. The vibe is unfussy and welcoming, with practical perks like free WiFi, a daily hot breakfast, and an on-site bistro and bar to help you fuel up before or wind down after a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a quick walk or drive from major venues like Bridgestone Arena and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Whether you're heading to a sold-out stadium tour or a more intimate performance, you can get there fast—and get back just as easily. The hotel’s downtown location means late-night ride shares are easy to find. While the hotel’s exterior-corridor layout might not be ideal for light sleepers, the property works to minimize construction noise during the day. Plus, with a 3 PM check-in and 11 AM check-out, there’s enough flexibility to rest up after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a central base
Solo travelers chasing dream concerts
Couples enjoying a music-filled getaway
Fans who need a calm, no-frills recovery spot
Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to compromise on location

Food and Drink Options

Start your day with the hotel’s free hot deluxe continental breakfast—a nice perk after a late night. The on-site bar and bistro provides light bites and drinks, and with the hotel’s central location, you’re within easy walking distance of downtown Nashville’s lively food scene. While there’s no 24/7 room service, tea- and coffee-making facilities in every room help you recharge anytime.

Nightlife Options

You’re right near the heart of Nashville’s nightlife. Whether you want to catch live music at a honky tonk, sip cocktails at a rooftop bar, or explore Lower Broadway’s buzzing scene, you’re just minutes away. The hotel’s own bar offers a more relaxed option with local vibes.

What People Say

Guests love the location—it’s walkable to many major attractions and venues. Reviewers often mention the friendly staff and the value of the included breakfast. Many note that the rooms are clean and comfortable, perfect for a short stay while exploring Nashville’s music scene.

Areas for Improvement

The exterior hallway setup isn’t for everyone, and some rooms may feel a bit dated. Construction during the day may be noticeable, but it’s kept to reasonable hours and shouldn’t affect your concert experience.

The Bottom Line

A solid pick for music lovers who want a central location, free breakfast, and easy access to Nashville’s top venues—without breaking the bank.

Room and decor was very nice. Shower was good. All staff very friendly. Hotel is close enough to downtown to walk. Breakfast choices were very good. Will definitely recommend!

Disliked: Nothing.

Great location for the PAC. Short walk to town and many restaurants.

Liked: Staff helpful; overall appearance of room good; price for area not too bad.
Disliked: Linens were stained (looked like blood) and worn; towels worn out.

Jeri, Killen, Alabama, visiting James K Polk Theater Sun, 14 December 2014

Renovations ongoing. Overall nice stay. Beds comfortable. Would have liked a microwave in the room. Would stay here again in the future.

Liked: Close to everywhere we wanted to go by foot. Great employees and friendly to us.
Disliked: Could hear other visitors too much. Outside entry door.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

John, Burlington, visiting Ryman Auditorium Sun, 27 October 2013

Read the advertising and you would think it is a nice place - won't see me again! I disinfected the place myself and can't imagine who or what has stayed there before. Elevator might hold 4 people tops, and is very rickety.

Liked: Employees were great!
Disliked: Smelled; overused; needs renovation. Too many other good hotels nearby, ugh!

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Susie, McMinnville, TN, visiting War Memorial Auditorium Nashville Wed, 25 September 2013

I guess it wasn't too bad for an older hotel. There had been some upgrades. I was not happy with all the noise nor that I was charged the same price for 2 queens instead of the King I originally booked. The breakfast was one of the best I have had. I am not sure I would stay here again.

Liked: The breakfast was great and a employee named Tyetta was wonderful.
Disliked: I booked a room with king size bed - received room with 2 queens which should have been cheaper but was at the same price. Room on the outside was very noisy - unable to sleep.

Disliked: Website said free parking - upon arrival the only parking is valet and you are charged.

Pleasant - 3.0 out of 5

Lynne, Knoxville, visiting Ryman Auditorium Fri, 10 May 2013

People were friendly and very helpful. Might stay again, but would get a room away from the street.

Liked: Reasonably priced; bed wasn't too bad, and the internet was free.
Disliked: Way too noisy. Buses every 15 minutes, sometimes parking there with engines running. Get a room that isn't on the street side of the Best Western. Wall needed to be patched in the bathroom and that was a big turnoff. Could have patched it in 10 minutes. Should replace the toilet seat.

Clean room, comfortable bed, and very good air conditioning. My daughter and I stayed the night for going to a concert and this place was just perfect for us. Thanks Best Western Downtown Nashville for being right where you are.

Liked: Very good experience.
