The Spotlight on The Cambie Hostel Seymour

Heritage Charm Meets Downtown Energy

Modern, social, and budget-savvy – The Cambie Hostel Seymour is a 120-year-old heritage building in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Just a short walk from major concert venues like BC Place and Rogers Arena, this hostel blends old-school character with a vibrant backpacker vibe. With shared facilities, a full communal kitchen, and a cozy lounge, it's the kind of place where you’ll meet fellow travelers before heading out to the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than a mile from Vancouver’s biggest arenas, so no need to stress about late-night transport. Granville SkyTrain station is just a 5-minute walk away, making late returns easy and affordable. The hostel’s lively on-site bar offers weekend entertainment and a fun pre- or post-show scene. While it's on the social side, the rooms are located above the bar for a bit of separation when you're ready to crash after the encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends on a budget looking for a fun base
- Solo travelers catching a dream gig and hoping to meet new people
- Couples making a weekend getaway out of it
- Fans needing a friendly but quiet-ish space to rest after a show
- Budget-conscious music lovers who’d rather spend on tickets than beds

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Cambie Pub serves up local craft beers and classic pub fare, and guests get a 20% discount on meals and drinks. While there’s no room service, the hostel’s shared kitchen and dining space is a great perk for late-night snacks or pre-concert meals. You’ll also find plenty of downtown eateries just steps away, including options that stay open late. Breakfast isn’t served on-site, but nearby cafes open early enough for a post-gig recovery coffee.

Nightlife Options

The Cambie Pub is known for its weekend entertainment and local live music, making it a great pre-game spot. Plus, you’re walking distance to Granville Street’s buzzing bar and club scene. Whether you're looking for a chill nightcap or a full-on afterparty, it’s all just around the corner.

What People Say

Guests highlight the amazing location, especially for walking to concerts and catching the SkyTrain. The pub gets plenty of love for its atmosphere and good value. Reviews also praise the friendly vibe, with many mentioning it's a great place to meet fellow travelers. The free WiFi and full kitchen are also appreciated perks.

Areas for Improvement

This is a hostel, so expect shared bathrooms and a bit of noise, especially on weekends. Rooms are basic but clean. If you're a light sleeper or looking for luxury, this may not be your jam—but it’s part of the charm for those who love a dynamic, low-frills experience.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without breaking the bank, The Cambie Hostel Seymour offers unbeatable location, local vibes, and wallet-friendly fun.

good location and value when...

Liked: The hostel's location is what makes it a good value. Unfortunately, for the dates we needed to be in Vancouver, the hotel prices were extremely high ($1000/ night-no exaggeration) so being able to book in this great location for such a good price was great. We had a private room for 2.
Disliked: The ladies' bathroom on the 1st floor has been renovated and was very nicely done, considering it is shared by a number of people. The second floor bathroom is not nearly as nice. Each floor bathroom has accommodations for 2 toilet stalls and 2 showers and at no time did I have to wait for either. It seems like they clean pretty regularly so I never felt like anything was dirty. The hostel is old and the age is evident everywhere, but the cleanliness supersedes any concerns about the building age.

Pleasant

Liked: Location could not be beaten especially with the price. Showers were great and bed was comfortable. Downstairs bars are really friendly.
Disliked: Very noisy location and rooms are not air conditioned or ventilated so not the easiest nights sleep. This may be a fair compromise for the price but it was not easy to go to sleep in the heat and noise.

Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Very good

Liked: Room is small, one bunk bed with two chairs, but bunk beds are good size and comfortable. Location is really good, we will book again for this location. It will be better with one small desk. The bathroom with two toilets and two shower, both are clean. There are not many people while we were there.
Disliked: Only a bunk bed with two chairs, not even a small desk. The building looks really old, may be some painting or maintenance can make it look better. and window area is very dirty.
