The Spotlight on The Cambie Hostel Seymour

Heritage Charm Meets Downtown Energy

Modern, social, and budget-savvy – The Cambie Hostel Seymour is a 120-year-old heritage building in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Just a short walk from major concert venues like BC Place and Rogers Arena, this hostel blends old-school character with a vibrant backpacker vibe. With shared facilities, a full communal kitchen, and a cozy lounge, it's the kind of place where you’ll meet fellow travelers before heading out to the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than a mile from Vancouver’s biggest arenas, so no need to stress about late-night transport. Granville SkyTrain station is just a 5-minute walk away, making late returns easy and affordable. The hostel’s lively on-site bar offers weekend entertainment and a fun pre- or post-show scene. While it's on the social side, the rooms are located above the bar for a bit of separation when you're ready to crash after the encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends on a budget looking for a fun base
- Solo travelers catching a dream gig and hoping to meet new people
- Couples making a weekend getaway out of it
- Fans needing a friendly but quiet-ish space to rest after a show
- Budget-conscious music lovers who’d rather spend on tickets than beds

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Cambie Pub serves up local craft beers and classic pub fare, and guests get a 20% discount on meals and drinks. While there’s no room service, the hostel’s shared kitchen and dining space is a great perk for late-night snacks or pre-concert meals. You’ll also find plenty of downtown eateries just steps away, including options that stay open late. Breakfast isn’t served on-site, but nearby cafes open early enough for a post-gig recovery coffee.

Nightlife Options

The Cambie Pub is known for its weekend entertainment and local live music, making it a great pre-game spot. Plus, you’re walking distance to Granville Street’s buzzing bar and club scene. Whether you're looking for a chill nightcap or a full-on afterparty, it’s all just around the corner.

What People Say

Guests highlight the amazing location, especially for walking to concerts and catching the SkyTrain. The pub gets plenty of love for its atmosphere and good value. Reviews also praise the friendly vibe, with many mentioning it's a great place to meet fellow travelers. The free WiFi and full kitchen are also appreciated perks.

Areas for Improvement

This is a hostel, so expect shared bathrooms and a bit of noise, especially on weekends. Rooms are basic but clean. If you're a light sleeper or looking for luxury, this may not be your jam—but it’s part of the charm for those who love a dynamic, low-frills experience.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without breaking the bank, The Cambie Hostel Seymour offers unbeatable location, local vibes, and wallet-friendly fun.

Good

Liked: It was a great location, very close to the shops and cruise terminal. Great food places nearby. Laundry was cheap only $2 for washer and $2 for dryer. It wasn’t as loud as I thought it was going to be, we were on level 2. The fan in the room was good as well.
Disliked: The private room was small but kind of expected that, was still able to put suitcases under the bed. Bathroom felt a little dirty after hearing people fornicating in the shower. I get it’s a hostel but it was pretty gross. Obviously not the hostels fault.

Economic, solved the purpose.

Liked: The location is right in the downtown, from where the Steamclock is a few yards away. The views and neighborhood are really nice, loaded with all restos, pubs, etc. The property itself has 2 bars attached to it which provides some discount to the guests. The kitchen cum common room is also good with all the amenities present. Overall this hostel solves the purpose.
Disliked: The restrooms are very narrow; the basins are so small, that no one can avoid water splashing out into the floor. There is no water connection provided inside the latrines, where persons from Asia would certainly have trouble. The janitors do a good job though, by thoroughly cleaning and sanitising the restrooms every day. I would request the management to replace the basins with bigger ones, and provide taps and small hose pipes near the commode for latrine purposes.

Great location

Liked: Great location in downtown Vancouver close to the Waterfront station and the seabus to North Vancouver
Disliked: There is a lot of noise from the two bars downstairs which played extremely loud music, until 2am. It was so loud that the room vibrated
