Very loud stay, but good...

Liked: Located in Gastown, close to the waterfront and subway. Comfortable bed. The service was very nice and helpful. The kitchen was well equipped. Washer and dryer available from 4pm till 12 am for 2 CAD each. Option to get a t-shirt for key deposit (10 CAD).
Disliked: I think I didn't understand what "party hostel" means. For me it should be some activities like karaoke or beer pong for guests, maybe some music party (but i would expect to finish it by midnight) or open doors till night once everyone gets back from the party. Unfortunatelly, it was worst. Hostel is located exactly over the pub - on Friday and Saturday loud music was till 3 (!!!) am. The earplugs didn't work—the music was incredibly loud, and the bass boomed through the floor, and you could feel it vibrating on the bed. There was one women's and one men's bathroom for the entire floor. The women's bathroom had two toilets, two showers (so small that it was difficult to get dressed after showering), and two sinks. If someone brushed their teeth, others had nowhere to wash their hands after using the restroom. There was no hand paper, only an automatic dryer. There was no electrical outlet near the bed to charge my phone at night. I had to place it on a table across the room, which was inconvenient for an early morning alarm. The building is very old, and the floors in the hallways creak loudly with every step. The windows have to be held open by a piece of board. The price is high for mediocre comfort. Also, I don't think this is good place for 2 cats.

Good location and price, but...

Liked: The location and the price. Full stop.
Disliked: No privacy (there could be curtains on bed), minimalistic, run down rooms, uncomfy showers and toilets.Livable, but I've stayed in way better hostels. Wouldn't recommend to stay for more than a few nights at max

Good for backpackers who value...

Liked: Just location
Disliked: The shower was small and not clean, the bar below was too loud at night making it difficult to sleep, and the bunk beds wobbled a lot. and the room is so hot

The temperature in the room...

Liked: The staff was nice and helpful
Disliked: The rooms were insanely hot and you couldn't open the windows to let air in because it was broken. It was impossible to spend more than 5 minutes in the room without breaking a sweat. It was 20 degrees Celsius outside and 35 degree Celsius inside. I do not recommend booking this Hostel during summer until they have installed AC in the room (and this is coming from a German who never has AC in Germany)

Good location, comfy beds.

Liked: Great location, comfy beds and spacious rooms.
Disliked: Staff were not helpful when it came to providing advice for things to do, but this could just be the person that was there when I checked in.

Clean and safe and convenient...

Liked: Location was convenient for all and everything. Place was pretty clean and very safe!

The Cambie is amazing. Friendly...

Liked: No breakfast but good space in the frig for your own groceries. Beds awesome. Front desk staff amazing! Cleaning crew amazing!
Disliked: No female dorms on the 2nd floor meant at one point, they couldn't accommodate my request from 5 mo ths ago. A friend switched with me and she didn't sleep well. But the did their best and were always respectful!
