The Spotlight on The Bulls Head by Innkeeper's Collection

Charming Countryside Stay with City Access

Modern convenience meets countryside charm at The Bulls Head by Innkeeper's Collection, a beautifully restored 17th-century coaching inn in Meriden. With exposed beams, crackling real fires, and a traditional pub downstairs, this hotel offers a cosy and peaceful atmosphere—just a 20-minute drive from the heart of Birmingham and only 10 minutes from major venues like the NEC.
Elegant rooms feature neutral tones, tea and coffee facilities, and complimentary toiletries, making it an ideal base whether you're catching a gig or winding down after one.

Why Concert-goers love it

It’s hard to beat the location—just a short drive or cab ride to the Birmingham NEC, Resorts World Arena, and other top venues. Despite being so close to the action, the hotel is tucked away in a quiet village, meaning low noise levels for a restful night after the encore. With a 12:00 check-out, you can sleep in without stress after a late night. The hotel’s proximity to both Birmingham and Coventry also makes getting around easy, especially with ride-share and taxi options readily available.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a laid-back base near the venue
  • Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list artist
  • Couples wanting a quiet weekend escape with a live music highlight
  • Fans needing recovery time in a peaceful setting
  • Budget-conscious travelers who don’t want to sacrifice charm or comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Bulls Head Village Pub & Kitchen serves up hearty, seasonal pub food and real ales all day—great for a pre-show meal or post-show pint. While there’s no mention of 24/7 room service, tea and coffee in-room and the on-site restaurant mean you're covered for casual bites. Breakfast is available, perfect for refueling after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music, you’ll find plenty nearby at the NEC and in Birmingham city centre. The pub downstairs provides a social village vibe with local ales and a relaxed setting. For more high-energy nightlife, a quick drive or taxi puts you close to bars, lounges, and clubs in both Coventry and Birmingham.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the characterful charm, friendly staff, and convenient location near key venues. Many appreciate the mix of historic atmosphere with modern comforts, and the pub gets high marks for food and ambiance. The peaceful setting is a big plus for those wanting to avoid city noise after a concert.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the rooms can be a bit on the smaller side, and others note that parking can be limited during peak times. However, most feel these are minor trade-offs for the location and atmosphere.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a gig at the NEC or nearby venues and want a relaxing, character-filled stay away from the crowds, The Bulls Head by Innkeeper's Collection hits all the right notes.

A beautiful place with a...

Liked: The hotel and rooms were gorgeous and the staff welcoming and friendly. We stayed here as it was right in the trial for the Millennium Way and was a lovely treat at the end of a day's hiking. We also had a fabulous meal in the restaurant as well as a delicious breakfast the next day.Would definitely recommend. We were really pleased as we had also booked the Kings Arms for the following night, which is part of the same Innkeepers chain.
Disliked: We were somewhat surprised at the amount of dogs that were allowed into the restaurant/food serving areas and the fact that the owners allowed these dogs to sit in the access areas so a tripping hazard for staff and customers, as well as leaving bowls of water everywhere (I actually stood in one that was left under my chair when I sat down) and allowing their pets to sit on furniture I am a dog lover but felt the way that this was inappropriate and unhygienic in an area that was serving food. One of the regular dogs was continually barking so didn't allow for a peaceful eating environment. This would actually put me off eating here again which is a shame as the menu selection and the quality of the food was so excellent
