Compromised
Liked: Friendly staff
Disliked: Room 211 was sweltering hot, as it’s above the boiler room. It had a fan but is only really useable if AC were to be fitted.

As always, a very enjoyable...
Liked: The food was excellent at every meal and staff were very flexible to accommodate individuals' requirements. It is a big plus that the Bulkeley has a separate dining room for visitors who have their dogs with them.
Disliked: The only thing I could criticise is the rattling window frames in a very strong wind but, after all, it is a Grade II listed building.

Exceptional
Liked: Lovely old hotel which has kept its original style which was great. We went in a heat wave but the breeze kept us cool. Room was warm as you would expect in a heatwave but not uncomfortable. Location was great sat on the terrace with a drink watching the boats on the water. Great bar and coffee lounge to keep cool in.
Disliked: Not keen on pre-prepared breakfasts kept warm on a hot plate but there were lots of cold options which we had instead. Music in the restaurant was in keeping with the age of the hotel, classic, piano and string quartet but a little too weird/depressing.

Charming, friendly and good value
Liked: Great location and lovely historic building. In parts it could do with an update, but that is part of its charm. All staff were friendly and helpful. Evening meals in the restaurant were excellent. They have a great Chef. Room was a good size with a comfy bed.
