The Spotlight on The Brakeman Hotel

Historic Vibes and Modern Comfort in the Heart of Treme

The Brakeman Hotel offers a unique stay in the culturally rich Treme district of New Orleans. This 3-star hotel blends local heritage with modern comforts, offering a cozy and convenient base for music lovers. Just over a mile from major hotspots like Caesars Superdome and Union Station, it’s a stylish, low-key pick that keeps you close to the action without the crowds.

Why Concert-goers love it

Its location in the Treme means you're just a short ride—or even walk—from many of New Orleans’ top music venues. After a late show, the 24-hour front desk makes late check-ins easy, and the peaceful atmosphere offers a quieter place to crash after the buzz of a concert. Private parking is available, which is a bonus if you’re driving in for a show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a casual, music-filled weekend
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list band in the city
  • Couples seeking a romantic music getaway
  • Fans who want a quieter recovery spot after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort and style

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn't have an on-site restaurant, each room includes a mini fridge for late-night snacks. You're in a prime spot to explore Treme and the French Quarter’s endless food scene—many eateries within walking distance stay open late. For morning recovery, nearby cafés offer easy breakfast options after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

You're steps from some of the most iconic music spots in the country. From jazz lounges to dive bars with live DJs, the surrounding area is packed with options. While The Brakeman doesn’t host live music itself, it offers a great jumping-off point to explore the city’s legendary nightlife.

What People Say

Travelers love the hotel’s authentic New Orleans vibe, clean and spacious rooms, and friendly staff. Many guests highlight the quiet at night despite its central location, and the ease of walking or catching a quick ride to concerts and festivals.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant or bar on-site, so if you're looking for all-night room service or a pre-show cocktail in the lobby, you’ll need to venture out. Also, parking is on the pricier side, so budget for that if you're driving.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to New Orleans for the music and want a comfortable, quiet, and well-located place to stay, The Brakeman Hotel hits the right notes.

Cool building, quiet and safe...

Liked: Great location, a bit quieter but still super close to the French quarter. Lovely spacious, clean rooms. Felt very secure as you need a key card to use the elevator and access the floors with rooms. Really cool building!
Disliked: Someone in the event space on the 4th floor was dragging around chairs/tables quite late one evening and it made the whole room vibrate! Maybe their staff can take more care to lift items and be mindful of guests below!

I won’t be back.

Liked: The beds were okay for a hotel. The pillows were very small.
Disliked: The bathroom was very disgusting. The shower hadn’t been cleaned in awhile as there was dirt on the walls, the shower floor was black and there was black straight, course hair everywhere. The carpet was musty, not vacuumed and in dire need of a shampoo. There was also a constant noise coming from somewhere. We stayed in room 204.

Great place to stay for...

Liked: Very cute hotel with pretty, comfortable rooms. Just off the French quarter so quiet but still walkable to everything. We drove in so parking was a big bonus. The cafe downstairs was very convenient.
Disliked: It us the starting point to a lot of tours, which can be good if that's what you are doing. It just means the lobby downstairs is very busy during the day.
