We had a lovely time...

Liked: Beautiful boutique style hotel with friendly staff.
Disliked: The subway was a 10 minute walk, not a big deal though!

Friendly eclectic hotel in Brooklyn.

Liked: Our balcony room was missing a table and chairs on the balcony. The front desk staff kindly switched us to an upgraded room that was just perfect for our stay. Everyone was friendly and opening the front door for us. It's a very eclectic hotel but suited our purposes as we were visiting our son in the neighborhood.

Superb

Liked: Very cozy hotel with really tasteful furniture in the rooms. We really enjoyed our stay at the Boxhouse. The location is walking distance to a metro station taking you to Grand Central in one stop. If you carry luggage you have to be aware about the bridge that has to be crossed. The reception desk staff and the in-house bartender are very friendly.

Great hotel for a first...

Liked: We paid to have breakfast included, and it was the best decision we made. We enjoyed having breakfast every morning at the hotel right before going out to explore the city; it was convenient for our family, especially when you have kids. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a nice variety that satisfied the whole family. The room was also great, with a nice kitchen with a sink, a small fridge, and all the necessary tools. It felt like an Airbnb but in a hotel environment.
Disliked: The sofa bed was rundown, squeaky, and a bit uncomfortable. It is time for a replacement. Also, we could not play Netflix or any other streaming services because we could not run the TV user agreements on both TVs. I believe this is something either the hotel does intentionally, or maybe it was those TVs in our room.

Not likely to ever stay...

Liked: Location great, room clean, and staff friendly.
Disliked: Our reservation was completely botched, so we were encourage to upgrade which we did. We were fairly charged for the upgrade but then also charged for the reservation we didnt use. Communication between hotel and booking.com was abysmal.
