The Spotlight on The Bonham

Classic Victorian Charm Just Minutes From Edinburgh’s Music Scene

Modern comfort meets timeless elegance at The Bonham, a beautifully restored Victorian townhouse in Edinburgh’s stylish West End. With sweeping city views from most rooms and a tranquil garden-facing setting, it’s a peaceful base within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, the Royal Mile, and top concert venues.
Rooms feature flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, and sleek private bathrooms with bath and shower. Whether you're heading out to a gig or winding down afterward, this hotel mixes old-school luxury with music-lovers' convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Bonham is a short stroll from major performance spaces, yet far enough to guarantee a quiet night’s sleep after the encore. With 24/7 room service and a generous 12:00 checkout, it’s ideal for late-night returns. The nearby Edinburgh Tram and Airlink bus make it easy to get back from late shows or the airport.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a classy base near the action
- Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list gig with a touch of luxury
- Couples turning a concert into a romantic weekend
- Fans seeking a calmer post-show retreat
- Budget-conscious travelers prioritizing location and comfort (deals often available outside peak season)

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Friday to Sunday, offering traditional fare with a European twist. Afternoon tea and light bites are available daily at the stylish bar, which also crafts classic cocktails and offers a curated wine list. Plus, with 24-hour room service, you won’t go hungry after a late show.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no live music on-site, The Bonham’s bar offers a relaxed vibe for a nightcap. For more action, you’re a short walk or cab ride from Edinburgh’s best pubs, cocktail lounges, and late-night hangouts.

What People Say

Guests rave about the classy atmosphere, helpful staff, and fantastic location close to both the city’s cultural landmarks and nightlife. Many mention the peaceful setting and spacious rooms as perfect for recharging after a busy night out.

Areas for Improvement

The restaurant is only open Friday through Sunday, which might limit dining options if you're staying midweek — but the surrounding West End is full of walkable choices. Some rooms vary in size and view, so it’s worth checking when booking.

The Bottom Line

A stylish, peaceful base with walkable access to Edinburgh’s music venues, The Bonham blends classic charm with concert-friendly perks.

Superb

Liked: The location was an easy tram ride from the airport, walkable to the city center, and just around the corner from Dean's Village. The room was lovely and comfortable.
Disliked: It was a tight fit to have 2 small suitcases out in the room.

Nice hotel but overpriced

Liked: Location and room was good and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: However a few issues re the toilet not working properly and one day with no treats provided. A minor point but sometimes its the little things that matter. Also I asked whether the complementary chocolates in room upon arrival were gluten free but received no response. Parking was provided by the hotel on a first come first served basis and was an additional £20 per night!
