The Spotlight on The Blue Cow

Charming Country Escape Just Outside the City Buzz

The Blue Cow is a stylish one-bedroom cottage B&B located in the peaceful village of Fenstanton, just 6 miles from Huntingdon and around 16 minutes by car to Cambridge. This award-winning spot blends rural tranquility with upscale comfort, offering a boutique stay complete with a king-size sleigh bed, plush sofas, and thoughtful touches like bathrobes and complimentary toiletries.

Perfect for music fans looking to unwind after a big night out, The Blue Cow provides a relaxing home base with easy access to nearby concert venues by car or taxi.

Why Concert-goers love it

Though not in the center of the action, The Blue Cow’s peaceful setting makes it a great choice for those who want to escape the post-gig noise. Cambridge’s many music venues are just a short drive away, and with flexible 4:00 PM check-in and a quiet location, you can relax or recharge at your own pace. Free parking and Wi-Fi make it easy for road-trippers and digital nomads alike.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who prefer a cozy, private space over a big hotel
  • Solo travelers seeing a favorite band and wanting a peaceful retreat
  • Couples making a romantic concert weekend of it
  • Fans who value a quiet space to wind down
  • Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value and charm

Food and Drink Options

Breakfast is a real highlight here. You’ll find a stocked kitchen with everything you need to prepare a continental or full English breakfast — including smoked salmon and pancakes with maple syrup — on your own schedule. The local pub is just a 3-minute walk away, offering a convenient spot for dinner or a late-night pint after the show.

Nightlife Options

While The Blue Cow itself doesn’t offer on-site nightlife, its close proximity to Cambridge gives you access to the city’s vibrant music scene, pubs, and bars. After a night out, you’ll return to a peaceful, countryside setting — the best of both worlds.

What People Say

Guests rave about the cottage’s comfort, cleanliness, and attention to detail. Reviews often mention the luxurious bed, thoughtful breakfast setup, and the friendly, welcoming hosts. The setting is described as both quiet and convenient for exploring Cambridge and nearby towns.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t the place for those who want to walk to a venue or stay in the heart of the nightlife scene. You’ll need a car or taxi to get to concerts, and the 10:00 AM check-out might feel a bit early after a late night — but the comfort of the stay makes it worthwhile.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable base near Cambridge with a homey touch and easy access to music venues, The Blue Cow delivers a relaxing concert-weekend escape.

Very comfortable, quaint little self-contained...

Liked: Lovely property, in a beautiful Fen village, very comfortable and perfect for two people. It was also very dog friendly, and whilst, as one review mentions, there is no secure area for dogs it is easy to nip out with them added to which there is a vast network of footpaths close by.Our hosts Bill and Mila couldn’t have been more hospitable and the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. We will be back!!
Disliked: Nothing - we loved it!
