The Spotlight on The Ben Mhor

Classic Highland Charm with Live Music Convenience

Set in the heart of Grantown-on-Spey, The Ben Mhor Hotel offers a traditional, no-frills stay with a warm Scottish welcome. With its on-site bar, restaurant, and easy access to nature and nightlife, it blends comfort and convenience at a great value.

Why Concert-goers love it

The peaceful surroundings make it easy to wind down after a show, and with free private parking and flexible check-in from 3:00 PM, it's easy to arrive at your own pace. Plus, with free WiFi and a relaxed vibe, it's perfect for uploading gig pics or planning your next setlist.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a low-key base between gigs and Highland adventures
- Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage with a side of nature
- Couples making a weekend of it with a scenic escape and a concert night
- Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space away from the crowds
- Budget-conscious music fans who'd rather spend on tickets than a room

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up hearty, traditional meals, and a Full English/Irish breakfast is available every morning—perfect after a late night out. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel’s lounge bar offers a relaxed spot for a nightcap. For more variety, local cafés and pubs are just steps away on High Street.

Nightlife Options

The Ben Mhor Bar has a local pub feel, ideal for a pre-gig pint or a chill evening in. While it’s not a party hub, nearby spots in Grantown offer traditional pub music and Scottish hospitality. For those heading to bigger venues in Inverness, it’s an easy drive or taxi ride back.

What People Say

Guests love the value for money, the friendly staff, and the central location in Grantown. Many reviews praise the comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, and the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. It’s especially appreciated by travelers looking for a clean, cozy spot that doesn’t break the bank.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the decor is a bit dated, and soundproofing between rooms could be better—though the quiet town setting helps keep things tranquil overall. Rooms are simple, so don’t expect luxury, but everything you need is there.

The Bottom Line

A budget-friendly and welcoming base for concert-goers exploring the Highlands, with all the essentials for a restful night after the music fades.

Liked: Lovely pub in centre of town. Great prices for drinks and food. Excellently cooked and great selection. Esp loves the curries. Dog friendly...my pooch was given sausages for breakfast each day. Hot rolls such as bacon or sausage are available all day so don't worry if you miss breakfast Can't take dogs in their restaurant but welcome in bar and breakfast can be served in there too. No grass in immediate area but plenty of places around the town. Inc a good dog area near the rear of the hotel for giving a dog some exercise. Rooms are quiet despite the bar downstairs.
Disliked: Ran out of some foods on the menu one night.

Had a very nice stay...

Liked: A nice reasonably priced hotel. Rooms very clean and fresh. Staff very pleasant
Disliked: Seemed to be a wee bit short staffed but I stress this didn’t impact on the cleanliness and tidyness of our accommodation.
