Nice hotel, beautiful views, great...

Liked: Location is perfect, staff were mostly friendly and grounds are well kept, I liked the gesture of a free drink if you don’t have your room cleaned. The bar area is a lovely place to sit and have a drink! Breakfast is served at a good time and there was a good selection of food! Hotel room did have good facilities!
Disliked: Hotel room was a little run down, mainly the bathroom, water marks all over the walls and broken bath panel! Hotel room also didn’t look as “grand” and luxurious as the pictures on the website! I know the hotel is having renovation works done but I expected more for the price and how the hotel is portrayed on the website! The room was smaller than the premier inn we stayed in the night before! Food - breakfast - luke warm food but there was a decent selectionMain meals for diner were very limited, we didn’t eat there as the menu was so small and nothing that either of us would have ate! I will say one or two staff members were slightly judgemental and didn’t make us feel as welcome there as we should have felt! I guess we didn’t fit in with the hotels “aesthetics”

Exceptional

Liked: Beautiful and ideal location for us.Plenty to see and do. Clean and well equipped rooms .Staff were excellent, and very helpful. Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice to suit all tastes.
Disliked: Scaffolding was a bit of an eyesore but didn't bother us as it was just a 1 night stay at the weekend .

Lovely location, polite and courteous...

Liked: We knew where the hotel was from previous visits to Bowness and this was the main reason for booking. We wanted 2 nights away and the price and amenities offered matched what I was prepared to spend.
Disliked: There are some signs of wear and tear, as there are in any big, old grand hotel. Some works are already underway, but details such as a chunk of enamel missing in the bath, scuff marks on the skirting boards and tired paintwork could benefit from attention.

An OK stay but probably...

Liked: Location is brilliant. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: Scaffolding ruined our view of the lake (we were informed of this about 3-4 weeks prior to our stay but it was too late to book any alternative hotel as they were all fully booked so we accepted a 20% discounted rate), breakfast was ok. Room not spotless, there were splash marks all over the bottom of the table in our room where I presume a previous guest had spilled a drink, windows dirty. I probably wouldnt stay here again for the price. The 20% refund is apparently processed by booking.com so I have no idea when I will recieve that money back.

A disappointing return

Liked: The views and the bar staff
Disliked: There was no early check in and we had to ask three times with a one year old to get checked in at all. The room wasn't set up correctly and we had to wait until the night time for our sofa bed to be made up. There was no one to speak to the next morning to check out and when we asked if we could get a coffee or even a biscuit / fruit as we had to leave before breakfast was served, the answer was no!

A beautiful break from the...

Liked: We have stayed here a couple of times now. Everytime we have came the staff have been so accommodating, kind, and a friendly face always! First impressions are very important in my opinion and meeting Ashley at reception is an asset to the company! Ashley is a friendly face, easy to talk to and takes his time to explain the hotel fully for new guests. We’ve check in with Ashley twice now and both times he’s gone above and beyond for us! Especially this stay when we we’re surprised to get an upgrade from a cozy lake view to a suite lake view, the perfect way to spend our anniversary

Good hotel, a place where...

Liked: Cosy garden room was larger then expected. View of garden, not overlooked with lake in the distance. Good size hotel with good dining facilities and lake views. Nice front garden with short cut to the promenade. Five minute walk to all the facilities of Bowness.
Disliked: Walls were not very well sound proofed.
