Third visit, each one worse...

Liked: Great location. Beautiful communal areas with splendid views. Welcoming staff. Breakfast service polite and efficient. Breakfast food on day one was fine.
Disliked: Room 18 is very dated, dark and unbelievably difficult to get to. Cobwebs across walls. Unending noise from room above (not hotel’s fault). The loud ‘gurgling’ noise in the bathroom appears to be caused by the bath in the room above draining into room 18’s sink. (We did make reception aware of this.) Very limited toiletries - no hair conditioner?? Bed uncomfortable. Breakfast food on day two was not so good - poached eggs had a horrible, overwhelming vinegar taste. And finally, a £15 a day parking fee!

The hotel doesn't live up...

Liked: Location was very good. Lounges very relaxing
Disliked: Attention to small details at breakfast. First day no tea spoons, no butter kni ves, messy arrangements for marmalade . Car parking charges excessive, hotel blamed private contractor but it was clearly under the control of the hotel. The bathroom size extremely tight

Spring break

Liked: We liked the service both in the restaurant a d the bar. The lake view is wonderful. The restaurant food was lovely.
Disliked: Having paid for a lake view, it was only a partial view. A lake view room with bath wasn't available. Shower room was very small.

Apart from the very disappointing...

Liked: The location
Disliked: Breakfast - one morning we ordered ‘eggs’ benedict, we received one small slice of brioche with one poached egg a little ham swimming in sauce, I’ve never received one eggfor ‘eggs’ Benedict. Next morning we decided on the full english - sausage was hard and of a solid texture, the fried egg yoke was hard, scrambled egg wasn’t scrambled enough and I’m still trying to decide how the slice of bacon had been cooked ‘microwaved’ I would think, it certainly had not been grilled or fried. For a 4* hotel I would expect better quality of food than we had and also charging £15 a night for parking car in hotel car park was a disgrace.

Not enjoyable and wouldn’t stay...

Liked: The building was once beautiful but it’s very tired and in parts dirty …the paint jobs are really sloppy around windows and dado rails …the bathroom in our room was ridiculously small and mirror was dirty ..15 pound for parking is a total rip of …stayed at hotels in Windermere that don’t charge for parking …no welcome pack in room ..wall light not secure to wall loose ….think it’s really needs an uplift and cooked breakfast was not great ..eggs undercooked and veggie sausage was awful ..hash brownie overcooked …was so disappointed..
