Nice one night stay in...

Liked: Nice hotel with good room. Slightly dark in places, particularly the dining room that we ate dinner in. Good quality breakfast. Staff were good but obviously a little stretched at dinner service.

A lovely weekend stay and...

Liked: Breakfast. We chose the small English breakfast and it was big enough…lovely quality too. Drinks were included, so it made it great value and actually much cheaper than going to alternate local cafes; which is usually the opposite! The room was quite large and comfy, well decorated. Shower was lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The style of the old inn was also very nice and a piece of history too. A lovely garden area to sit in too. I love staying in places like this!
Disliked: Poor choice of draught ale, with only Doombar on offer, without paying for drinks like Beavertown ales. This is a tiny ‘complaint’ about the bar option, which was otherwise good.

Shocking start, saved by a...

Liked: We had an excellent breakfast cooked by George and Tracie the server was chatty, very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
Disliked: We arrived at 8:30pm, plenty of people in the restaurant. Whilst waiting to get checked in we asked another member of staff what time the kitchen closed he checked his watch and said 9pm. We eventually got our key once they had somebody to get the login to the computer system. We went to our room and went straight back down to the restaurant and spoke to the person who booked us in and asked for a table for 2. He said we’ve run out of food and the kitchens closed. I looked at my watch it was 8:40 I informed him of what is colleague has said when he was standing beside him. He again said we haven’t got any food and it’s closed. However people were still eating. So I asked him if there anywhere else to eat to which he replied I doubt it. I asked if there was anywhere else to eat in town (7 miles away) his response was don’t ask me I’m not the person to ask. Another member of staff overhearing the conversation suggested a pub in town. We left disgusted with the service. Once outside we saw the staff member who told us it was 9pm and informed of what we had been told. He wasn’t aware why we had been told that as the Roast diners may have ended but they had plenty of other food and he would look into it. Very disappointing service and an exceptionally bad first impression
