The Spotlight on The Bed and Breakfast at Oliver Phelps

Historic Charm Meets Music-Fan Comfort in Canandaigua

Located on Canandaigua’s picturesque Main Street, The Bed and Breakfast at Oliver Phelps offers a peaceful, boutique-style stay just a short walk from local attractions and a short drive from nearby concert venues. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, this intimate B&B combines classic charm with modern comforts like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi. With outdoor activities at your doorstep and elegant interiors, it's a relaxing base for your music-filled getaway.

Why Concert-goers love it

Only a 15-minute walk from Sonnenberg Gardens and within easy reach of local venues, this B&B is ideal for fans seeking a quieter, more relaxed setting after a high-energy show. The 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM checkout give you plenty of flexibility around your concert plans. With free parking and a calm, residential location, it's especially great for those looking to unwind in peace after the music ends.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want a cozy spot to reconnect between shows
  • Solo travelers hunting down must-see performances with a side of tranquility
  • Couples enjoying a music-filled weekend escape
  • Fans looking for a quiet recovery space after a loud night
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate value with charm

Food and Drink Options

A highlight here is the generous breakfast spread, with English, Italian, or American options served up daily—perfect for sleeping in after a late concert. While there’s no on-site restaurant, there's a cozy coffee shop on the property and plenty of local eateries within walking distance for dinner or drinks. Room service is available daily, and the welcoming hosts can point you to great late-night spots nearby.

Nightlife Options

While the inn itself is more about relaxation than revelry, Canandaigua’s charming downtown area—just minutes away—offers bars, pubs, and wine lounges perfect for a laid-back post-show drink. For those looking to keep the night going, there are several local spots with live music and regional wines.

What People Say

Guests consistently rave about the personalized service, immaculate rooms, and delicious breakfast. The peaceful atmosphere and historic setting get high marks, especially from those attending events nearby. Many reviewers love the serenity after a loud concert and appreciate the thoughtful touches like allergy-free rooms and friendly hosts.

Areas for Improvement

While the quiet atmosphere is a plus for many, party-seekers might find the vibe a bit too subdued. There’s no on-site bar or late-night food, so those looking to keep the energy going post-concert will need to plan nearby outings. The historic building means no elevators—something to consider if stairs are a concern.

The Bottom Line

For music fans who value comfort, charm, and a restful night after the encore, The Bed and Breakfast at Oliver Phelps is a perfect pick.

Great place for a getaway....

Liked: Beautiful older home, furnished with interesting items and well maintained. Everything is comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious. The owner makes every effort to make guests comfortable.
Disliked: A hand grip for the claw footed bath tub would be helpful.

We felt pampered and thoroughly...

Liked: This charming historic home was a delightful place to stay! Karin, the owner was an accommodating hostess who made our visit even better. I had an early morning filming session and would miss the delicious breakfast offered, but she quickly volunteered to provide me a much appreciated sack meal that got me through the morning in style. The home is well appointed and the fireflies and gazebo make it magical! From the moment we arrived in a torrential downpour we were treated to great food (home baked goods in the dining hall at all hours plus those sumptuous breakfasts), advice on places to dine and things to see in Canandaigua. Fun knickknacks add character and kept our senses engaged. This place is a winner!

Exceptional

Liked: Delicious homemade breakfast made with local foods- menu changed daily, was very hearty and a great start to the day. Fun old Victorian home with extra amenities provided: communal refrigerator, games, DVDs, hot/cold water dispenser, beautiful grounds with hammocks and sitting areas (we unfortunately had rainy weather during our stay). Our host was often available on site to answer our questions or give us tips on local attractions.
