Nice relaxing hotel, needs better...
Liked: Beautiful grounds and facilities. We had a very relaxing time. Really lovely 20ish min walk through the Royal Gardens into the centre of Bath.
Disliked: Terrible customer service - we could NEVER get through to anyone (even from the actual hotel room let alone trying to call beforehand). Eventually, we emailed through Booking.com and we didn't receive a direct reply from the hotel but from Booking.com on behalf of the hotel. We wanted to book spa treatments, pool times and dinner reservations and were told in the email that it's best done at the hotel when we arrive. But when we arrived at the hotel (only at 4pm when check in is 3pm) everything was fully booked. We were able to get dinner and a swim but at awkward times. And no spa treatments (literally none were available). Also, if you're not good with stairs - ask to not have the Azelia room. It felt like naughty children's room squeezed in the corner of the building with only tiny stairs leading to it, but also stairs within the room. It was a nice room (albeit very hot as it didn't have big windows being the room stuck in the corner of the building), but for a forgetful person having to keep going up and down, I got frustrated with more and more stairs.

Dated, very expensive and not...
Liked: Staff very friendly and helpful, the grounds were lovely.
Disliked: Dated bedrooms, very noisy, uncomfortable beds. No free breakfast despite the room alone being 355 for 1 night.

Liked: the hotel Gardens are beautiful, and the room was nice enoughf
Disliked: This place does not offer value for money at all. I am quite upset I choose to stay there on the weekend of my weeding. The service was so poor, my husband order a coke for lunch and we had our whole meal and it never arrived. at dinner we had to asked for water twice, at breakfast, I requested if my croissant could be warm up. the waitress looked like it was a complicated request, and said.. mmm lets see if is possible... !!! I requested the next morning if I could have my coffee at the terrace as it was a wonderful day, she asked me to wait for my coffee inside and take outside myself?! Really? I paid £952 for a 2 nights stay, not sure that is the service I expected. The room was nice but the bathroom sink was damage and the paint was chipped. I had booked a time at the outdoor pool, unfortunately I was unable to find it with the staff directions, when I went back to let her know I could not find it, she just simply repeat the directions, even thought she had no trouble coming to the pool to announce that the slot was about to finish...My husband refused to go into the outdoor pool was the water was dirty. it did looked like it had not been cleaned in days with leaves floating and others at the bottom, and several bugs just floating around. one of the reasons I booked the priory was to relax by the pool, only to be told I could only stayed for 1 hour, even though nobody was there when I left 25 minutes after my slot had expired. I have stayed in many 5 starers hotels. this is by far the worse. you can't justify the price just with pretty gardens and a listed building. is all about service.

A pleasant and enjoyable mini...
Liked: Breakfast was great plenty of choice and very helpful staff were on hand at every stage. Food was hot and of high quality. Would highly recommend the breakfast menu.
Disliked: The fact there wasn't a proper air conditioning system available was a bit of a let down as we only had fans which circulated ware air. we are aware its an old building, but some sort of proper air conditioning would be needed for us to return during summer time as the room was at times uncomfortably warm.

A lovely, welcoming and relaxing...
Liked: Excellent service and beautiful hotel. The current staff team were brilliant: pleasant, helpful and willing to do everything to make us very comfortable. We enjoy the distance from the central town and the walk across the park but anyone with difficulties getting about may find it a challenge.
Disliked: Only a small minus in that we were sorry that the garden had not been kept to its usual exceptional standard over the lockdown period. We notice this as the garden is one of the major attractions for us when we stay and for the last 15 years it has been like a huge RHS show garden. It is still amazingly beautiful and full of wonderful plants but not as weedless and perfect as previously. This is understandable though as keeping such large grounds perfect must take a large full-time team.
