Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Jeffrey, Barberton, visiting Pikes Peak Center Tue, 30 June 2015

I generally love Hilton Hotels but because of the standard I hold them to I have to give a disappointing 2 or less for the Antlers Hilton. Checking us in occurred much later than it should have - we were told we had a room upgrade because of our wait but the room was very small with a horrible view. We wanted breakfast while we waited and when we asked for a menu we were told there was a menu but also a buffet and we should just do that. Daily parking fee is always a turn-off. We waited until late afternoon but finally had to call and request maid service. We had to re-enter the WiFi code on a daily basis. And on the first day, hours after check-in when I wanted to purchase from the gift shop, I was told my name was not on the "hotel list" and I had to pay using cash or credit card. The next day, my name was on the list but the cashier had to check the list, call the desk to get authorization, then have me sign.

Liked: Location.
Disliked: Room size; WiFi connect; daily parking fee; gift shop purchase procedure; wait time to check in; did not offer a breakfast menu; maid service we had to request.

The location is great to enjoy the Pikes Peak Center and all the local shops and eating venues. We had a great "sisters" weekend!

Liked: Wonderful location; resolution of problems.
Disliked: No fridge.

Good looking older hotel in...

Liked: The hotel itself is very nice inside. The staff was friendly. The view of the mountains from the pool was great. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had an east side room with a view of the town which was nice at night. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! The hotel is in a great location downtown close to many restaurants and sights.
Disliked: The hotel was half empty and they wouldn't let us check in early so we had to kill time driving around for several hours. The room was pretty small and felt crammed with the 4 of us. The AC never really cooled enough. It's like the thermostat allows you reduce it to whatever you want but it's not actually going to cool below 72 or something. The parking was in a garage under the hotel that required we go to the lobby each time we left to validate the ticket. It might be a better idea to add a room key card reader at the garage entrance and exit that lets guests in and out. The outdoor pool is pretty small and there were never any towels.

Overpriced and under performing.

Liked: Just the location.
Disliked: It was dirty, the bed was uncomfortable, there was no room service. Towels, coffee, water etc. had to be asked for specifically. Definitely not 4 star!

On Vacation ! Don't need...

Liked: Hotel was once a beautiful facility. If you choose the mountain view then it is great. Elevators were very efficient since we were on 12th floor.
Disliked: Hotel appeared to be over 50% empty. First room was at end of hallway in a room with only a tiny shower and so small my 6'3", 195 lb husband ran into the wall as he came out of bathroom, after first night I went to front desk and was immediately assigned to another room-it took 8 hours to get that accomplished, was finally given a room close to my grandchildren. I made reservations over a month prior and asked for adjoining rooms but that did no happen but they did get me close to their room. First morning we went down for breakfast-only people in restaurant. Went to buffet which was $42.00 for two: with three items to choose from-we never made that mistake again. The parking garage was a nightmare as we had to go to front desk and wait in line to get ticket validated EVERY time we came in, three times the arm would not come up so we had to wait for someone to validate that we were guest. We had time constrains and needed to not have this hassle. By the way the hotels charges for parking in garage. We will choose another hotel next time. The city of Colorado Springs has many hotels to choose from so choose carefully as to what you are getting.

Historic Hotel with plenty of...

Liked: Great restaurants on site and the pools were nice. They validate parking. Historic charm.
Disliked: A/C did not work well. The bathroom was small. I figured for the price I paid, it would be a little more elegant. The mountain view is not worth the extra price, unless it is winter and it's snowing.
