Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Jeffrey, Barberton, visiting Pikes Peak Center Tue, 30 June 2015

I generally love Hilton Hotels but because of the standard I hold them to I have to give a disappointing 2 or less for the Antlers Hilton. Checking us in occurred much later than it should have - we were told we had a room upgrade because of our wait but the room was very small with a horrible view. We wanted breakfast while we waited and when we asked for a menu we were told there was a menu but also a buffet and we should just do that. Daily parking fee is always a turn-off. We waited until late afternoon but finally had to call and request maid service. We had to re-enter the WiFi code on a daily basis. And on the first day, hours after check-in when I wanted to purchase from the gift shop, I was told my name was not on the "hotel list" and I had to pay using cash or credit card. The next day, my name was on the list but the cashier had to check the list, call the desk to get authorization, then have me sign.

Liked: Location.
Disliked: Room size; WiFi connect; daily parking fee; gift shop purchase procedure; wait time to check in; did not offer a breakfast menu; maid service we had to request.

The location is great to enjoy the Pikes Peak Center and all the local shops and eating venues. We had a great "sisters" weekend!

Liked: Wonderful location; resolution of problems.
Disliked: No fridge.

Relaxing!

Disliked: Main bathroom spicket leaked and the plug was completely broken off, keeping us from being able to take a bath.

Was very positively impressed. I...

Liked: the quietness of the room; the comfort of the bed; the strong stream of water from the showerhead. Staff were helpful and professional.
Disliked: There was one long curly black hair and coffee stains in the sink when we arrived. That was gross. I reported it to the front desk. Elevator was a little sluggish. TV channels were hard to navigate.

Might be my last time...

Liked: The front desk staff are really friendly. The bar staff was attentive.
Disliked: It seems like each time I stay here, I'm given an older and smaller room. It's outdated and for the amount of money I'm being charged I expect more. It's as if they're punishing me for my many years of loyalty.

High expectations, dashed...

Liked: The location is very good. Walking distance to excellent food and clubs. And it was clean.
Disliked: On our trip through Colorado, we stayed in 3 classic hotels. This was the most expensive, and the least favorite. First, it is not really "classic" just old. The original hotel was replaced in the 60s. (But you still pay a historical building fee...) They try and play of the history of a 100 year old hotel, but it is not 100 years old. The "classic wood paneling" in the rooms is just cheap stained pine. The furnishings were worn items I have seen in Choice hotels and La Quintas that have not been updated in a while. The onsite food options were well below that available just blocks away downtown. And the parking was more expensive that the posted price for commercial parking on the garage. We were really excited about staying, but it was not like the others... (Bolderado and Satellite) In the end it was just a hotel that had not had a recent update.
