A clean and comfortable place...
Liked: Our room was in a lovely position with views over the common and valley - and it was a lovely surprise to find that we had a four poster room. There was plenty of space to move around and two separate chairs to sit in. The bed was clean and comfortable and we noted we could ask for more blankets or non feather bedding. Breakfast was great - both in terms of menu choice and what we actually ordered.
Disliked: The toilet cistern was extremely slow to refill after flushing. There were no sockets at a user friendly height so we had to put the kettle onto the floor to use it and then there was no room on the little tea/coffee drinks table to place it once it had boiled so this was a little awkward. Similarly the floor level socket was the only place to plug in the hair dryer. This is all ok if you dont have a bad back! When we tried to watch the TV from bed one of the bedposts blocked the view of the TV - whilst this was definitely not a deal breaker I am sure that something could be done about this with a bit more thought.

Lovely old country retreat
Liked: Met our expectations, except didn't expect to have to pay for pet.
Disliked: Rather old and antiquated. Room need a refurb. Wine (over £25) expensive

Great scenic views. Old Inn...
Liked: Fantastic location overlooking the valley and pretty Cotswold countryside. It was also a few minutes walk from Minchinhampton Common. Lots of character inside, as it's a very Old Inn. The food was great. We ate there every evening. The Sunday roast was one of the best I've had in a long time. 7 different vege and the meat was so tender it fell apart. Very friendly, helpful staff. Small shop and cafe across the road inside the church. Free public parking opposite hotel was ideal, but did get full at certain times during the day, especially afternoons when it was used by mums collecting children from school and dog walkers heading to the common.
Disliked: No wardrobe in the bedroom, just 6 hangers on coathooks. Not satisfactory for 2 people staying a few days. No full-length mirror either in the room. Black mould visible in places on bathroom pipes, bedroom ceiling corner and bathroom windows. Lot of condensation on windows in mornings also. Warm room, but ventilation required. Not sure if these problems could be adressed due to the age of the hotel.
