Good

Liked: Room was cleaned to a high standard and beds were very comfortable. Location was great with only a less than a 10 minute walk to O Connell street.
Disliked: Bar staff was far from friendly including the manager. Not once did a member of bar staff come over and take our drinks order and we had to take our own empty glasses up to the bar when we finished each drink. We ordered 2 steak sandwiches off the lunch member which stated on the menu "skinny fries included" and when the steak sandwiches arrived there was no fries. We asked the manager at the bar and he said there was an extra charge of 2.50 which wasn't the case as the menu stated fries were included with the steak sandwiches. We were also over charged for food we didn't get and had to go back with the bill after looking at the receipt. Bar staff gave the impression they didn't want to be there as, even asking for a drink seemed too much bother for them. Glasses not cleaned off tables when people went and bar wasn't even that busy which makes it worse. No excuse for lazy and unfriendly bar staff which really let down this hotel unfortunately and I will not be returning in future.

Very nice! I would come...

Liked: Breakfast was good and a good price. Room was beautiful and clean. Nice big bright bathroom. Nice shower!
Disliked: Hot tub/spa closes at 9pm and it costs extra. I didn't know that until I was checking in.Also I wasn't offered much information at check-in, like about the spa cost and closing. I had to ask. I think giving a summary of amenities would be good service.

Horrible Stay

Liked: On first arrival staff were lovely and hotel seemed nice, very clean. Room was a good size, modern and clean.
Disliked: There was firstly an issue with the TV, we reported and was told someone would be up. No one arrived after 40 minutes, called again. Porter arrived and couldn't resolve issue. Rang reception and was told it was a fault in whole hotel. Person was extremely rude and told me if we came to watch TV we could check out. I asked to speak to their manager and was told they were the duty manager. They said they would email the front of house manager to speak to me. Overnight there was an issue with the automatic night lights, flash everything I moved in bed, like a strobe light. In the morning we went to Front Desk and spoke to the Front of House Manager. I explained both incidents and he was very blunt saying he hadn't yet read his emails, not offering an apology or help. How this was clearly untrue as I hadnt said my name or room number and he then told me my room number. In addition the hotel is located in an unpleasant area next to train station. Our view was a walk or reception window. Trains could be heard most of the night, but in fairness we didn't mind that.Due to the poor customer service we checked out early and finished our stay at The Spencer Hotel, where the staff were amazing.Pictures show view from room. Trainline above. Have video of strobe lights issue but cannot upload. I have reached out to ask for a contact at Head Office but have never recieved a reply. I would not recommend this hotel in any way. The management have no care for the guests and their stay.

Pleasant stay. Breakfast gd

Liked: Lovely hotel. Pleasantly surprised. Lovely decor. Nice ambiance.
Disliked: Room wasn’t ready on arrival. Not a problem. However when we returned that evening- the triple room we were expecting was only a double. Had to wait until another room sorted. Staff very accommodating in getting matter sorted.

Basic

Liked: Staff were pleasant.
Disliked: When we arrived the system was down so no key cards worked we had to escorted from reception to lift and lift to room as everything was key card. When leaving room we had to use the stairs as key cards operated the lifts.then we couldn’t get back into our rooms without assistance this continued mostOf the day Friday. Then 6.48am maintenance decided to set the fire alarm of without warning and wake up the full hotel. We were then left with notes in our room telling us the water wasn’t working and we were to reserve water as much as possible. I was on the start of my20th wedding anniversary celebrations and invited another 2 couples along to celebrate thinking we were staying in this amazing hotel which turned out to be nothing like I was expecting.

Terrible experience

Disliked: Supposed to check in from 3pm but Keys weren’t working when we arrived so had to wait around for an extra hour until we could go to our room, we paid for an upgraded room as it was my partners birthday weekend which cost me 405 euros for 2 nights in this was a continental breakfast which consisted of 2 slices of bread in the lounge and one banana to choose from. Had to pay 25 euros each to use the spa facilities and when we got in there the chlorine was so strong it burned our eyes so had to leave straight away and ask for a refund. No replacement towels in our room all weekend. Key cards kept failing so had to walk down the flights of stairs to reception multiple times as couldn’t use the lift to get back down once we couldn’t get into the room. Bath panel was hanging off the side of the bath. Terrible experience what was supposed to be a nice birthday celebration weekend for my partner was ruined.
