Perfect location, lovely staff. A...

Liked: Walking distance to restaurants. Attractive setting next to the priory. Spacious, comfortable room, a little old fashioned. Good coffee machine in the room, as well as kettle. Fans were provided to mitigate the unusually hot weather, but still too hot for sleeping. Air conditioning could be put on the development plan. Comfortable, social bar with a very friendly and competent bar tender. The dinner menu was good, particularly the ice cream sundae.
Disliked: No fridge in the room. Only one bottle of water provided, not refreshed on subsequent days. The fantastic bartender provided pints of iced water to take up to the room. Breakfast was ok. The melon slices were very small, mostly rind. At the times I was at the hot plate, the eggs had become hard and rubbery, unlucky timing. The most disappointing was the appalling, machine dispensed coffee. It tasted of slightly off milk with no coffee flavour at all. The breakfast isn’t cheap, so a jug of freshly brewed coffee brought to the table should not be impossible. The shower cubicle in my daughter’s bathroom was extremely small. Luckily she is petite and just about managed to fit in. A larger person would have struggled. The water was too hot to use, even on the lowest setting. Maintenance responded very quickly to a request to adjust the thermostat. The outcome was that it was then stuck on cold and could not be changed. Luckily the weather was hot, so a cold shower was ok. Hopefully this can be addressed.

Central location; comfortable, excellent breakfast...

Liked: Convenient centrally located hotel close to Priory and quaint shops with excellent breakfast, parking spaces and friendly staff. My room was in the modern annex of the hotel; it was clean and a decent size with a comfortable bed. Staff were professional and friendly, accommodating our large family group in the restaurant and storing cases on the last day.
Disliked: There was a lot of footfall past the room and weddings were audible from the rooms above, so I would recommend a higher floor in the main building for those wanting an early night or a lie in.

Not exactly a four star...

Liked: The building and location is excellent. Friendly and helpful staff.
Disliked: It’s dated. Fixtures fittings and furnishings make the hotel feel cheap and downmarket. The breakfast was awful - overcooked food sitting under heat lamps, coffee from a self service machine. The dining area felt more like a student canteen.

Dog friendly, fantastic location next...

Liked: Beautiful location and building Dog friendly
Disliked: View of the other hotel but understand this isn’t within your control. I felt the room was expensive (over £200) for what we got
