The Abbey isn’t what it...

Liked: The location was perfect for a weekend wedding we were in town for. Close to the lake and local bars and restaurants.
Disliked: The Abbey is very dated and in need of a facelift. Carpets are dingy. Hall had a very odd smell. Just not what we expected. We stayed on a Thursday so we paid much less than a weekend rate but had we paid typical prices I would have been extremely disappointed. Also our room was not ready when we checked in an hour after checkin time ( after 5:00) and we had traveled a long way and needed to be changed and ready by 6 to be somewhere. The bathroom is not well lit and the exhaust is very loud. We had no washcloths or shower mat. Staff was not very helpful.

Liked: Town it self. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: You have to walk carefully outside not to fall or break legs. Minimum of towels and supplies. Toilet paper minimum. Coffee just couple packs. No cream. I expected to get more. Cofee late in cafe was had weird taste.

Disliked: The bathroom shower molding needs repair and bars to hold onto in shower would help. There was no bar soap in bathroom by sink.

Liked: The place is nice. The harbor view rooms on the second floor are better than the pool view rooms on the first. What is exceptional is the staff. Special mentions to Veronica and Morgan on the front desk, and Omar from maintenance. They were above and beyond and did everything to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Would not come back or...

Liked: That there were 3 pools including an adult only pool. Cafe and restaurants onsite.
Disliked: The booking and payment was very confusing and holds up a lot of money we could have been using instead of just holding the incidentals and a credit card on file. You hold all the nights then before that's released, you charge almost the full amount you're holding minus incidentals. The some staff was quite rude. A/C was not working properly in common areas making it very hot and humid everywhere. The hallways and stairways were not very clean and the overall building was very old, chipped paint, chipped wood, dirty ice machines and common areas were not very clean either.
