The Abbey Hotel Miami Beach Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy

Great location but thin walls.

Liked: Beautiful art deco building. Lovely big rooms, aircon was great. Nice big bathroom. We didn’t have a daily cleaner which I like as no interruptions and we did not need any servicing except maybe to have the rubbish emptied. So close to the beach and other amenities including tour pickups.
Disliked: The floors were a bit sandy, understandable as a beach location. However paper thin walls, first night the room next to us were obnoxiously loud till 4am. The last night elephants upstairs left in the early hours but apparently left all their packing to the last minute. Make sure you have good earplugs.

Disliked: Elevator didn’t work.Walls were paper thin for sure. You could every word of every person on each room, either side. Staff seemed very… casual and temporary. They didn’t suit the professionalism of the classy looking hotel.

Liked: The location is great, and the area is clean and quiet. The staff is very kind and accommodating. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained.
Disliked: The only thing we minded was the soundproofing of the room. The hotel is in a quiet area so there's no external noise, however, you can hear the steps of people above you very loudly and the noise from people closing and opening the doors. It is almost unbearable if you are a light sleeper and people are moving around late at night above you. It caused quite a bit of anxiety and restlessness, however, the second we brought it up to the staff they let the party above us know to mind their noise and they provided earplugs which helped tremendously.

Liked: The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location.
Disliked: However, the check-in process was a major downside. I couldn’t complete the pre check-in on the requested date due to a system restriction. When I tried on the arrival date, the system didn’t allow me to finish. I reached out to support but only received automated messages that didn’t help.Upon arrival, I spent almost an hour at reception just to get the access code to enter the room.Security also felt lacking—anyone can access the floors since the elevator doesn’t require a key or code
