Avoid this place

Liked: One of the bar staff was amazing. A young man on his second ever shift.
Disliked: Everything else. I wrote an email of complaint to [email protected] on 22nd of June and have had no reply. We are waiting for a refund for breakfast that never arrived and are interested in what compensation they will provide for a horrendous visit. It is the worst hotel visit I have ever had in UK

Perfect location for our purpose...

Liked: The location was excellent for the opera we were attending at Grange Park. The hotel had a pleasant spacious bar.
Disliked: There was a stressful mix up about our booking for two double rooms. The receptionist said we had only booked one room and that the hotel had no more availability. She was not at all helpful. Fortunately we were able to supply written proof on our laptop that two rooms had been booked. Our room was tired, the ensuite shower needed a deep clean and one bedside light did not work and wasn't rectified during our stay.

Comfortable, friendly staff, a touch...

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff. Just managed to get there in time before the kitchens closed so had lovely fish and chips! (Was very hungry after playing cricket all day and cycling 20 miles!). Comfy bed in spacious room. Decent (not brilliant, but OK) breakfast, reasonably priced. Could leave my pannier there after I'd checked out so I could explore the North Downs on my cycle. Surprisingly stylish decor and furnishings.
Disliked: It's right by a busy main road. I could still hear the road (not tooo loud) from my bedroom, even though it was at the back. It has a small garden area, but is otherwise almost completely surrounded by a tarmac car park. I know cars rule the roost these days, but it does make it a bit soulless. Oh, and they should publish kitchen closing times, so you don't turn up at 8.20pm and risk being refused dinner (I think they took pity on me though, thankfully!)

Nice bar and restaurant, but...

Liked: The breakfast room and bar was really nice. The breakfast was very nice.
Disliked: The room was terrible. As you walked the corridor to your room, all the bedroom doors were either scratched or dented. The room was baking hot. No air conditioning and no fan available. Only a window that didn't open far.The bathroom was old and tired, with limescale and rust. For this hotel to be worthy of the price, the rooms need to be completely modernised.I believe this hotel housed asylum seekers a while ago and seems like the rooms have not been renovated since then.I wanted to speak to someone before I checked out, but there was no one to be found at reception.

Good hotel. Great facilities. Good...

Liked: Good location. Great outdoor space with good outdoor furniture.Good size bedroom.Bar area and restaurant good. Both with comfortable seating areasStaff friendly apart from one member on reception at our arrival.
Disliked: When we arrived at 1:30 pm we were met by a member of staff who before I could speak told me quite abruptly that check in was at 2 pm.I asked if we could leave our luggage somewhere while we had some lunch. She tutted and said “ I suppose I could leave it in the office. She then, without speaking pointed to the office. She then proceeded to walk to the office and took my case and put it in the room. I asked her where we could buy lunch and without speaking pointed in the direction of the bar and restaurant. Not a great start to our stay. Certainly not a good first impression. We had lunch which was very nice.Later in the evening we went down for our dinner. My wife ordered the lamb curry and I had the sea bass. The lamb curry was disappointing to say the least. Mostly fat and gristle, very little meat.My sea bass was over cooked and dry. The potatoes were cold. Not a great dinner. The next night we dined at the Duke of Wellington across the road from the hotel. On the next table was a couple who were also staying at the hotel and had a similar experience with their meal the night before at the hotel.I have to say we were quite impressed with the hotel in general. But the management should look at the food that comes out of the kitchen.I would definitely stay at the hotel again, but we won’t be dining there.

If the staff was as...

Liked: The location was great. The room was very comfortable and we were happy our 9 month old was sleeping comfortably in a very clean pack and play (thank you!)
Disliked: Most of the staff was condescending and rude. My husband and I both experienced this independently of each other and were really put off. Some of the staff looked down at us and treated us as though they were superior- not really the hospitality we were looking for.
