The hotel was fine but...
Liked: comfortable clean room
Disliked: the window view was looking at a fence covering some ac units and I was charged £20 for breakfast expensive for a solo traveller.

Unhappy stay and a waste...
Liked: On this occasion the only thing we liked was leaving!
Disliked: Apologies I thought this was a review on the Hogs back that we got transferred to as the Thatchers Hotel decided to close! Staff where rude and unfriendly! My grandchildren were trying to get to sleep and workmen was still laying carpet and banging gone 8pm! The pillows where so hard it was difficult to sleep (the bed wasn't to bad) the room had bits that needed revarnishing as they looked like some parts of the wood looked like they had been rubbed down in patches but not finished! We had a draw missing, the woodwork hadn't been polished so lots of dust laying on it! Hand prints all over the mirrors! Not much choice on the room service menu or the dining menu so we had to order uber eats for 2 night's! At breakfast the sausages tasted vile and on one of the days some weren't cooked properly and was pink in the middle! Shower pressure was terrible! I took my grandchildren swimming and on at the desk the miserable woman (who we obviously disturbed) as we rang Bell twice 5mins apart, came out told us where to go and that there wasn't enough towels for us all gave us 3 and said she would bring more down which she didn't until we had finished and she had come down to the changing room saw us and said (oh god I forgot your towels) I said yes you did and she said I will just go and get some. 5mins later she came down with some... I then had to go to the men's changing room and call out to my husband because he didn't have a towel! On a good note we thought it was a lovely pool until a bunch of grown men started being really loud and jumping in the pool and splashing without any regard to anyone else in there, so my daughter and myself and my grandchildren went into the baby pool but it just got so loud in there we left.

Liked: Nice environment, quiet area, very friendly staff. Comfortable, spacious rooms.
Disliked: Breakfast was nice, could have been more selection on a Sunday morning. Staff worked hard to serve the guests, but couldn't fully cope with the demand - probably due to staff shortage.

Hotel happy to cancel your...
Liked: I have stayed at this hotel a few times. They always ask for card even if you have already paid which irritates me. Unfortunately my stay was cancelled by the hotel. They are still open but are refurbishing. When they cancelled, You still seemed to be able to book a room but at double the price. Not very helpful.
Disliked: See above

MIGRANTS IN THE HOTEL WITHOUT...
Disliked: A week before arriving at the hotel, we were told by a friend of us in the village that the hotel had been requisitionned for migrants. Trying several tiimes to obtain a confirmation by the reception of the hotel, we could not actually got one: the only answer I received orally from the revenue manager was that the hotel had been rented for six months by a big company (for me it was a kind of confirmation that the hotel had actually been requisitionned). But WHY HAD THEY NOT SENT US A MESSAGE SAYING SO. WERE THEY WAITING THAT WE PITCHED UP AT THE HOTEL AND THEY COULD NOT HOST US ? They offered us an alternative but which was roughly 20mn away in one of their other hotel on the A3. Not the same that staying in a quiet environment and far from the place where we were seeing our friends. AND IF THE HOTEL HAD RENTED THE WHOLE OF THE HOTEL, WHY WAS IT STILL ON BOOKING ?
