The Spotlight on Thames Riviera Hotel

Riverside Comfort with Easy Access to London and Windsor

Modern comfort meets classic riverside charm at the Thames Riviera Hotel, located on the serene banks of the River Thames in Maidenhead. With its relaxed atmosphere, scenic views, and a convenient location just a 30-minute train ride from London Paddington, this hotel is a smart base for concert-goers attending shows in both the capital and nearby Windsor.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans appreciate the easy transport links to London and surrounding venues, including a quick drive to Ascot Racecourse and Windsor. After a high-energy night, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat with riverfront views and comfy rooms—many with balconies. The 15:00 check-in time and 11:00 check-out offer a flexible window that's ideal for post-concert recovery. While it's not in the city center, its quiet setting is perfect for winding down after loud arenas.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a scenic weekend base
  • Solo travelers catching a long-awaited gig
  • Couples combining concerts with riverside romance
  • Fans wanting peace and quiet after the show
  • Budget-conscious music fans who prefer value and views

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Blue River Bar and Restaurant is a highlight, with comfy armchairs, an open fire, and a spacious dining room. Guests can enjoy a riverside terrace and garden, perfect for pre-show drinks or relaxed post-concert meals. While there's no 24/7 room service, the bar offers a friendly vibe and there's a selection of eateries nearby in Maidenhead. A hearty breakfast is available in the morning—ideal after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you're only a short ride away from London's thriving music venues or the nightlife of Windsor. For those who prefer to stay in, the bar’s open fire and local drinks selection make for a cozy nightcap spot.

What People Say

Guests love the riverside location, friendly staff, and the relaxing bar atmosphere. Many highlight the balcony views as a pleasant surprise and the good value for money, especially compared to central London hotels.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that parts of the hotel could use a refresh, and noise from nearby traffic might be noticeable in some rooms. Single rooms don’t have balconies, so consider upgrading if views matter to you.

The Bottom Line

A charming riverside stay with easy access to London’s venues and a peaceful vibe that’s perfect for recharging after the show.

Lovely location but hotel needs...

Liked: Location on Thames
Disliked: A bit run down and no lifts made it really difficult to get the luggage upstairs for international travellers.

Passable

Liked: Plenty parking space for a little fee
Disliked: Carried my luggage all the way through narrow staircase in different location and directions to the third floor for a small single room with low ceiling

Duch a disappointment

Liked: Position tightby the Thanes was good. The demake members of staff were lovely
Disliked: Rooms were filthy with sandwich bags old cans of coke by the bed. and under . Breakfast was poor. Food was cold, and undercooked. Jam dispensers which I have never seen anywhere else were empty. The fruit bits were unripe. Orange "juice" was awful. In the room there were no biscuits to have with the tea Sink was so shallow really difficult to fill the kettle. Parking is charged now since July. It's on a first come first served basis so you cannot reserve a space. Nowhere nearby to park if not. Would advise others to look at alternative venues. We would never go back. You have to give a day's notice if you want your room cleaned and bed made up.

Great location for all the...

Liked: Room was spacious and comfortable with a stunning view. Location is ideal for walks along the river or into the town centre. Also good access for Windsor, by car or London, by train.
Disliked: Unexpected, small cost for parking.

Bad

Liked: Staff were lovely
Disliked: Staff were lovely, but honestly, I would never recommend this hotel. It's unclean, dated and shoddy. Breakfast was a joke. Best to stay at the local Premier inn
