Super place to relax

Liked: Loved the spa and huge gym. Bed was super comfy and bar was very cool.
Disliked: I thought the room rather small and the dinner mediocre. Prices for cocktails were on the high side.

Disappointing and could be so...

Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful
Disliked: The property is in need of significant investment, very tired with many areas in need of refurbishment. The food choices for gluten free were very limited 1 starter 1 main so only ate in the hotel 1 night. The room was dark even in daylight with no view, carpet was heavily stained as were chairs and room badly need redecorated. There was also a bat in the room on our first night which we managed to get out with some difficulty.

Pleasant

Liked: Beautiful hotel with fantastic relaxation areas. Outstanding location in a country estate. Seating outside with beautiful views. Steeped in history with period furnishings and opulent and relaxing eating and drinking areas.
Disliked: Our room was small with no view and with no natural light. It was also next to a narrow spiral staircase where some noisy guests had to pass. The very obliging and friendly receptionist Latham to his credit showed us three other rooms, none of which inspired us, so despite our reservations, we opted to stay in the room we had originally been allocated.

Bad experience

Liked: Location, peace and quiet.
Disliked: Well, as much as I was looking forward to taking my grandsons out as they requested, it was bad experience and frustrating. My grandsons didn’t enjoy as wouldn’t be allowed to swim, or go in to jacuzzi, I understand they are young for some of the things like steam room etc and the guy at the swimming pool said they could go in to games room, we waited from 1830 until 2100 when the receptionist came to us at the lobby to inform me that now kids cannot go in games room as was 2100 and as people were still playing and said my grandsons can go in the next day when she knew that we only booked one night, then I asked her why didn’t he speak to those people as they have been in games room for hours that there are other people waiting but she informed me that they have booked that games room for the evening, which I found very unfair and selfish and she also informed me that the hotel is adult based and I asked her why did they allow me to make this booking with children if it’s adult based hotel and told her there was no where stated about age restriction and she told me that my grandsons can go play outside in the lawn and I told her that my other grandson is asthmatic and was a bit cold as was drizzling and a bit chilly for him yesterday plus the plants which always triggers his asthma, and she told them that they can play piano but later on another one came to say it was too loud and my grandsons started becoming frustrated and jumping around and because they saw one elderly couple playing that piano without them stopped my other grandson went to play it as was frustrated saying why others were not stopped and I mentioned to that receptionist what a kid said, she said her name was Rebecca. I even mentioned to her this morning before we left that it was a bad experience. My grandsons were really looking forward to this and they said we could have slept home as it was just booking to go to bed and not for fun, s, my grandsons just lost their mum and didn’t deserve this!
