Superb

Nice place, quiet and enjoyable

Liked: Clean, Cozy and comfortable.Breakfast was included
Disliked: Some breakfast foods needed to be refrigerated longer before handing out in the morning. Maybe they need an early and late delivery

Beautiful views and spacious rooms.

Liked: The hotel is very clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: The stairs were too many, staying in the second floor was like climbing the highest mountain without prior preparation.

Good, basic hotel in central...

Liked: The hotel is in a stunning building that has retained all its grand features.It is in a very quiet but central area. 15/20 minute walk to Waverley Station and a 10 minute walk to Holyrood and the Royal Mile.We were able to store our belongings after we had checked out, and then use the lounge to come back to for an hour or so between our appointment and catching the train home.

Good

Liked: In a quiet part of Edinburg, pretty big room and bed, easy check in and check out.
Disliked: The breakfast is served in bags during the night, so the joghurt and butter is completely warm in the morning

Ask for rooms in lower...

Liked: Family room was big, however it is on 4th level and no lift with spiral staircase. Not suitable if you can’t climb stairs. Location is not too bad, many eateries after a 5-10 mins walk.
Disliked: Mattress needs replacing, one could feel the springs and the middle section has caved in

Liked: The beds were comfy, and the shower was really good too

Liked: For one of the cheapest places to stay in Edinburgh, it was well worth the money.
Disliked: Location.

Great value!

Liked: The photos don’t make this hotel justice. It is very authentic and very well kept old building. You don’t have any interactions with staff so it is definitely for independent travellers that don’t require assistance or are expecting a face to face service. There are signs and labels everywhere to facilitate the self check in/ check out. The location is great, easy walk from the old town. Rooms are spacious and very clean!
Disliked: Communication is not great if you have special enquires but it’s straight forward and had no issues at any stage. The walls are thin so you can hear other guests easily and the mattress is not the most comfortable. Nevertheless we had a good overall experience and I’d stay again.
