Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite

Superb

Liked: The staff were incredibly kind, the place was beautiful and had a very special and pleasant atmosphere.
Disliked: Our room wasn’t cleaned, although we didn’t ask to opt out of housekeeping — it may have been a misunderstanding. Also, the tap wasn’t properly connected, and the shower stream was quite weak.

Enjoyable stay close to Yosemite...

Liked: Roasting marshmallows for Smores in the firepit. Free continental breakfast in the morning. Archery range experience.
Disliked: Uncomfortable sofa bed.

Excellent location, outdated room, and...

Liked: I liked the location of the hotel as it is by Yosemite park.
Disliked: Room was a bit outdated. The main areas of the hotel were nice. Food at their grill restaurant was just ok - service was bad. We also did the night trail walk and although it was interesting, it was not worth paying 30$ per person! Given the daily rate of the hotel, this should be a complementary service.

Explorer cabins are not in...

Liked: Good facilities, professional staff and great location only 10 minutes by car from Yosemite south entrance. We stayed in the Explorer Cabins, which are separated to the main resort but a free shuttle active 24/7 makes it easy for guests to access the restaurants, pool and the spa in the main resort. We appreciated the more secluded and more authentic “out in the wild” experience with still all the comforts, but I can see how some people might not enjoy this as you won’t stay in the main resort and the description on Booking.com was not clear about this. There is wine social + other activities and breakfast daily included in the price but in a building located near the cabins (not in the main resort).
Disliked: The description of the cabins on Booking.com should be better and clearly explain the cabins are in a separate area.

Beautiful setting, lovely ambiance

Liked: Beautiful room in a cottage, set in woodlands next to the main hotel. Good sized room with two queen beds and great ambiance with a (gas powered) “log” fire. Only there for one night - longer would be better to appreciate the hotel and all its facilities.
