The best spot in Saskatchewan...

Liked: The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool had good facilities and lots of places to sit. The steam room was great. The bed in the king suite was very comfortable and the room was very clean and tidy. I appreciated the extra bottles of water in the room. We got to town early (2:30PM) and called to see if they could check us in early which they did, and we really appreciated. That way we could get in the pool time along with visiting the lounge and restaurant all in one day.We had snacks and drinks in the lounge in the afternoon and then had an evening dinner in the on-site restaurant. The snacks and drinks were delicious, particularly the meatball sliders and the martini's. We sat at the bar in the lounge and the bartender was really friendly. Our dinner was good but I found it to be lacking in something extra which would justify the price, such as a signature style of cooking or a unique side dish. My baked potato was dry (I also ordered the mash but didn't mind trying the baked potato when it arrived lol). The drinks again at dinner were delicious.By far the best part of our meal was the dessert. We ordered the cheesecake and it was out of this world--the best I've ever had. I think they had some kind of cheesecake god bless that dessert because it was heavenly.I also appreciated being able to go to the pool at 7am as a hotel guest. It was nice to have that time in the morning before we had to check out. I also appreciate the 12pm checkout time.
Disliked: The entire facility could use a fresh coat of paint, there were some areas (in the spa for example) where the walls were quite banged up and needed new paint badly. I don't think the hotel has to lose it's charm with an entire modern makeover, but a few cosmetic improvements would make it feel that much more of a getaway and luxury. The towels in the pool area are a bit small. Some larger options for towels and robes would be appreciated. Some kind of slipper to wear from the hotel room to the pool would also make the amenities a 10/10.I saw that the gift shop was closed up, I hope they have something move into that space soon. It looks a little bit sad without it.Also there's obviously nothing really that can be done barring tearing down the whole main building but I thought it was kind of odd that the pool area faces east. It would be really nice to be able to view the downtown and sunset while sitting in the pool.

Disliked: The quality of the room needs to be severely upgraded based on the price paid. I won't stay again because of how outdated and damaged the rooms are based on this price.
