Exceptional

Liked: A very grand house set in peaceful gardens, and a huge bedroom with a spacious walk-in shower. The host was always on hand to chat. Lovely breakfast, with fresh fruit salad as well as the fried items. Excellent location, just 5 mins walk from town centre and lots of restaurants, and plenty of parking.
Disliked: Perhaps just a little less chat from the host?!!

Disappointing & expensive for a...

Liked: Convenient, quiet location. Good size room & en-suite.
Disliked: Location not easy to identify amongst other similar buildings - no obvious name or markings.A bit like discovering the Marie Celeste & not sure that whether or not you were entering someone else's private residence.Property furnished with many personal & interesting items but not necessarily entirely practical. For example the occasional chairs in the room were very uncomfortable to watch TV & back breaking and we were unable to read in bed using bedside lamps because of the low light bulbs (pretty but useless). For "luxury stay" & for the price we would have expected a more substantial & generous room tray rather than the "Hotel Standard".Breakfast offering adequate but tedious for a long stay & not of premium quality. The Full Scottish was pretty diabolical & very disappointing with hard rubbery eggs & dried up bacon, etc. as if it had been left on the hotplate overnight. No lighting outside building, absolutely pitch dark, making it difficult & hazardous when returning from an evening meal in town. Crazy!!

Very classy hosting

Liked: The house itself is beautiful, such a gorgeously decorated warm, clean and inviting place. We were made to feel so welcome, at ease and looked after by David while we enjoyed Rowena’s delicious breakfasts. David was so good at getting fun and interesting conversations going at breakfast around a big beautiful dining table so it was lovely meeting the other guests too. It was such a huge treat being there, a real pleasure.
Disliked: Nothing
