Disliked: The check-in process was a disaster. Nowhere on the website does it say that you cannot pay cash on check-in. We always travel with cash to make it easier to keep track of how much we are spending (young family on a tight budget, that's how we work best). We didn't arrive until 6:00 pm, which we did clear with the hotel but we weren't allowed to check-in because we didn't have a credit card and the funds weren't available on our debit card. The staff said we could pay cash on check-out only but she would not give us a room key unless we paid for the stay with a card. All banks were closed at this hour so we asked if we could just pay for the first night on our card and settle the rest of our week long stay in the morning after the banks opened. "Absolutely not". We had to pay for the entire week on our card before she would check us in. "But, you can cancel your reservation, and make a new reservation for just tonight...." We still were going to get charged a cancellation fee!!! Thankfully Booking.com helped us waive the cancellation fee and we ended up only staying the first night. We might have stayed the rest of the week after we were able to settle things at the bank the next morning but, our "adventure" does not end with the check-in process..... Our room was WAY smaller than was advertised; the photos of the room I reserved was 2 queen beds and a sofa. This room was only 2 twin beds. The bathroom was clean but the light/fan in the ceiling was hanging by a thread (wire) so jankily that I'm fairly certain if you shut the bathroom door too hard, it would fall to the floor. Needless to say, we were out of there at sunrise, straight to the bank, and made reservations at the D Sands....for $150 less than what we were going to be paying Surftides for the week. It all worked out but it was definitely a stressful start to our family vacation.

Liked: We were upgraded to an Oceanview and a fireplace for free. I love that the room had a balcony! The view was amazing!

Liked: The staff was very friendly.
Disliked: Bed was super hard, pillows were super lumpy. Had to ask for a comforter. No robes. No furniture on balcony. Exhaust fan in bathroom did not work.
