Surfbreak Oceanfront Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection

The staff was friendly. The rooms were very clean; they had a good restaurant and bar with live music; it is conveniently located within walking distance from the 5th Street Beach concert stage; overall it was a great experience - I would recommend it to family and friends.

Liked: The ocean view was excellent.
Disliked: The TVs need to be updated.

One of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at, especially for the price! The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. When I walked into the lobby my first thought was that I hoped the room was better than the lobby. It wasnt! I would never recommend this hotel nor would I ever stay there again. Horrible!

Disliked: The price the room took forever to get hot water then when you got it it wasn't very long TV kept going off prices unbelievable room service not very good if you got any at all several things in room did not work

Liked: Perfect oceanfront location! Very convenient to gift shops, restaurants, and attractions! Staff was professional and attentive. Especially Matt, and Brittani Anna.
Disliked: I wish the carpeting in the rooms were replaced more often in all hotels.

Liked: There no breakfast, just tea and the worst coffee I ever tasted, my husband and I have to sleep in separate beds because we both fall laid down to the edge of the bed. I felt humidity inside the bedroom. The icemaker on the 3rd floor didn't not work
Disliked: Change the carpet for a wood floor, firmer mattress

The location is great but...

Liked: The location was perfect with a balcony overlooking the ocean and a quick walk to the beach.
Disliked: Our room wasn’t cleaned for a week. We would leave in the morning and no one would come to clean or leave towels . The same sunflower seeds that were on the carpet along the front of a dresser when we checked in that did not belong to us were there when we checked out. We had to request towels daily and ask for toilet paper from the front desk. The back door to the balcony smashed closed but maintenance did fix that. Also the toilet kept backing up and would not flush at all at times so they handed my husband a plunger. People must smoke pot in their rooms because the whole floor smelled like pot which just stinks. It needs to be updated the carpets in the halls are from the eighties and I think that that’s the last time they cleaned them. Parking is a block or two over so loading and unloading your luggage was a chore with a space big enough for 3 cars when there are a lot of people trying to check in and out at the same time.
