SureStay Hotel by Best Western Portland City Center

Comfortable beds if not the size advertised; clean; wifi worked in room mostly; door to bathroom coming apart at side seam, with peeling paint. Surprisingly little noise from bar right below our room or from the street outside our window. But didn't get the room as advertised online and the desk clerk couldn't resolve.

Liked: Mostly clean, friendly & helpful staff.
Disliked: Didn't have microwave as advertised online; had to ask for hairdryer.

I booked online and printed out my receipt. Wanted two queen size beds with amenities including fridge, microwave, hair dryer yada yada. Checked in and was disappointed. No amenities. There was nothing I could do and nothing your staff could have done. Would like some kind of restitution other than 'when you book online, you might get just anything other than what you thought you were getting'; as quoted by one of the hotel staff. Sorry, didn't feel safe - seedy part of town.

Ok Stay

Liked: A/C kept the room cool. We were able to get parking both Fri and Sat night even though we got in late. Located near to Forest Park (which was important for us). Coffee was decent at breakfast. Table and chairs inside room made it easy to get take out from the food trucks a few blocks away.
Disliked: The hotel sits right on top of a bar. Our room was directly above the entrance. People were outside hooting and hollering (lucky I brought a noise machine). Breakfast is mostly white bread and sugary cereal. Hotel is older and not updated inside the room. Bed and pillows were only kind of comfortable. Sheets were old and not that typical crisp hotel sheet.

Disliked: Shower wasn’t clean, towels were very musty

Overall we had a comfortable...

Liked: Breakfast spread was adequate & satisfactory. Housekeeping staff was extremely cooperative and efficient . They were always ready to do up our room whenever we requested. Nathan at the front desk was always very helpful.
Disliked: Our room was located on top of Suki’s bar, which was noisy at night especially on weekends. The breakfast space was rather small and cramped up.
