Old motel with no 24 hour lobby, no property amenities, no security, no outdoor space, concrete room

Liked: Jenny and the gentleman in the office were very nice, concerned and helpful.
Disliked: (The other lady, not so much. Coffee pots were empty during breakfast, and she was in no hurry to refill them as guests waited. Just shouted that she'd get to it shortly. Left without any coffee.)Most importantly, there should be working security cameras in the parking lot. Considering the area and the former reputation of the hotel, there should be security staff. Two men attempted to open 2 of my car doors, while I sat inside, (charging my phone at 5am because the wifi in my room kept going out)... looking up info for my next destination. I fired up the engine and reversed immediately! They ran to a waiting getaway car parked beside the dumpster. Too bad the security camera was missing from the mount on that end of the parking lot! The police were eager to catch them. Also when I ran to the lobby for help, the doors were locked!!! Luckily Jenny recognized me and they let me in quickly, treated me with concern, and called the police to report the (attempted carjacking?) They were wonderful and kind, but the eagerness of staff to help was limited by the lack of security provided at the establishment. It is definitely not a safe place for a single woman traveler.

Best in budget class with a welcoming staff.

Liked: We had an excellent stay in Melbourne and it all started with the lovely and helpful staff. We were warmly welcomed and they let us know about the upcoming space launches and where to best view them from outside the hotel. The beds are brand new and oh so comfortable. It was quiet and easy to sleep. The breakfast was pretty generous for a hotel and Kim made sure everything was restocked and available for everyone so you don't have to feel like it's a hurry or a competition, there is plenty for everyone. The room was clean and I felt comfortable doing yoga on the cushioned carpet. We met people from at least seven different countries while we were there. Its less than 10 minutes from MLB and there is even a bus route you can use if you want. If you cross the street behind the hotel, you can access a spot to view the Indian River and the sunrise, it was very grounding to be able to connect with nature for a moment in the morning. All of Kim's restaurant and yber eats recommendedations were on point and pleased my family. The beaches in Melbourne are very spacious and relaxed. I would absolutely return to this hotel and stay again. I recommended a visit to Erna Nixon Park if you enjoy native plants and birds.
Disliked: We loved everything. There is a slightly noticeable issue with the humidity balance in the room like many tropical places but a dehumidifier is in the room and running 24-7, everything is well managed.
