Comfy, clean and good value...

Liked: The room was quite small and well appointed. The single bed was very comfortable and gave me just what I needed for one night visiting friends in Hitchin
Disliked: I expected to hear noise in my room as it was over an old coaching courtyard which has outside seating and is also a walkway from the public car park into town. I didn't expect to hear quite a lot of sound from a nearby bar coming through the vents or the pipes in the en suite bathroom! None of it went on too late, and I slept well. Just a bit disconcerting when I thought it was going to go on until the early hours

Disliked: Bathroom: dangerous to get in and out of the bath to shower. Could not avoid soaking the floor either.Breakfast: should be 8am on Sunday. Told it would be late a Chef had a long journey. Toaster was rubbish. When breakfast served, was informed there were no tomatoes as they had run out !

Fabulous gem for visits to...

Liked: We needed 6 rooms at short notice (due to another hotel letting us down) for our family and friends to stay before our son got married. Colette and Monica were amazing and ensured they could accommodate us. When we arrived we discovered a lovely hotel with friendly, professional staff who made us very welcome.We loved the quirky nature of a 16th century coaching inn and that it's a 2 minute walk to the centre of Hitchin and all that is on offer there.
Disliked: We stayed during a heatwave, which made for difficulty sleeping, but this wasn't something the hotel could control.

Liked: The location is great, at the centre of the city.
Disliked: The sound insulation wasn't good enough. The temperature of the shower is a bit hard to manage.
