Pleasant restaurant but a poor...

Liked: The evening dinner was very good with a nice choice of quality dining. Prices were reasonable and the service was discrete and efficient. There is a choice of dining areas and the decor was pleasant with modern rural tones.
Disliked: I was charged £10 for parking upon check in and was told that if I had booked direct it would have been free. I felt like I was being punished. The room smelt musty upon arrival and the first thing I saw when I opened the door was a torn carpet. The door to the room was loose and rattled all night so I had to lean my case against it because of the annoying noise. The toilet needed three flushes to remove what the previous occupant had left there. The toilet did not seem to flush very well. The bathroom door would not close and the extractor fan was not working. There were no tea bags in the room which I had to fetch myself from reception. It is annoying as these are basic things which can be fixed with a bit of care. The restaurant was good but the hotel is poor. I don't feel that I could recommend it.

Wish I had booked somewhere...

Liked: Nothing at all. Tatty interior, mould on the bathroom, shower head damaged, kettle had to be held down to make electrical connection
Disliked: Very expensive and in dire need of renovation

Dilapidated and loud, won't be...

Liked: The desk staff were friendly.
Disliked: It's dilapidated (our shower tray was cracked, no ironing board because people "kept stealing them", pillows with an inch thickness and dirty duvets, etc). No AC, which is not fun in humid weather. The main problem was how noisy it was - there is nothing to deafen the sound of door slamming and only one corridor to go down to get to rooms so you're kept awake all night. Even though we were staying there we couldnt get into dinner or breakfast at all bar one time, and when we did the wait staff were miserable and the food was cold.

Poor

Disliked: The toilet has clearly outlived its immaculate era. The crusted remnants of our predecessor, the colour reminiscent of Germany’s darkest days, were still fancying a swim after an excessive amount of diligent flushes. The volume of the pillows was significantly less poetic- flat and stale. The food (both breakfast and dinner) appears to be the only saving grace for this “establishment”.Staff were very friendly and helpful though.
