Strathcona Hotel

I love staying at the Strathcona Hotel because it has so many options for food, socials and is close to all amenities in Victoria. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, clean and reasonably priced.

Liked: The staff are super friendly, efficient and helpful.

Liked: Great location, was clean.
Disliked: Not a great view from the back, but then you don't have as much road noise. All around it was clean and fine, served its purpose.

Liked: Great spacious room with lots of amenities. Very clean, huge comfy bed and friendly helpful staff.

Liked: Location, room, bars and restaurants associated with the building. Staff can be a little surly but overall a very good stay. Highly recommended if you're interested in being in an historical building, but without the usual pool and gym. The bar associated with it is a sticky wicket is really quite something in terms of its history well over 100 years old.

Disliked: Parking was around the corner at an unsecured outside lot, and our room did not have a window, but it's a vintage hotel, so the design is not what you get in an everyday modern hotel.

NO SLEEP due to ROOFTOP...

Liked: The staff was so pleasant, welcoming, attentive, and eager to assist. Really the best part of my stay was the staff.
Disliked: 9pm- 1:15 AM was a party on the roof directly above my room; so loud my ear buds and pillow over my head could not tune out!! Dance music, a live singer?, a crowd that sang along!!The desk said there was not another room to move me. I was set to have to wake at 3:15 am to catch an early flight. Beyond disappointed that I paid to stay in a room that I could not sleep in. The staff and manager (a few days later) were apologetic and acknowledged my displeasure. They also acknowledged that during summer months this occurs (yet, I was not warned)

Nicely renovated hotel in a...

Liked: Nice rooms and comfortable.
Disliked: The location is on the main drag of route one, so lots of traffic all night with plenty of sirens. The rooms facing the street (ours) was just above the pub adjacent to the hotel entrance. It was very loud until about 2:30am. So, little sleep even with ear plugs.

Been walking distance to everything...

Liked: The hotel is centrally located to everything walking distance to everything and the harbour
Disliked: Each time we asked the front desk staff if they could tell us about a tour, they could not give us any information about it. I was very of a tour we booked ourselves from our home, they did not know the tour company nor knew the tour about the greater Victoria city Malahat skywalk and Bouchard Gardens.
