The Spotlight on Strand Palace Hotel

Historic Style Meets Concert-Ready Convenience in London's West End

Modern comfort wrapped in over a century of hospitality, the Strand Palace Hotel places you right in the pulse of London’s entertainment district. Just steps from Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, and several of the city’s most iconic theatres and music venues, this timeless hotel offers a well-balanced mix of traditional British charm and contemporary amenities. With 788 rooms, two stylish bars, a British restaurant, and a prime location on The Strand, it’s an easy choice for music fans heading out for a night to remember.

Why Concert-goers love it

The location is unbeatable for concert-goers—just a short walk to major West End theatres like the Adelphi, Lyceum, and Vaudeville. You can stroll to Charing Cross station in under five minutes, making late-night transport a breeze. Rooms come with satellite TVs and 24-hour room service, ideal for low-key post-show wind-downs. Deluxe and superior rooms offer air-conditioning, while standard rooms include fans—something to note for summer gigs. With check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 12:00, there’s enough flexibility to recover after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to stay near all the action
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime gig
  • Couples turning a concert into a weekend escape
  • Fans needing a quiet, reliable base to recharge
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want location without luxury pricing

Food and Drink Options

The hotel features a restaurant serving classic British cuisine and two bars offering cocktails and afternoon tea. There’s also 24/7 room service—a huge plus for late-night cravings after a gig. With Covent Garden just a five-minute walk away, you’ll find plenty of post-concert eats nearby. Breakfast is available, perfect for a slow start after a late finish.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’re surrounded by bars, lounges, and theaters offering plenty of nightlife. Enjoy a pre-show drink at one of Strand Palace’s on-site bars, or explore nearby Covent Garden and Soho for everything from dive bars to upscale cocktail spots.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s central location and the ability to walk to shows, restaurants, and shops. Reviews consistently praise the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the ease of accessing London’s top attractions. Many note the hotel’s historic charm and appreciate the modern touches in the deluxe and superior rooms.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that standard rooms can get warm in summer, as they come with fans instead of air conditioning. The hotel can also feel busy at times, especially during weekends or events, which is expected in such a prime location.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a concert in the West End, the Strand Palace Hotel offers a hard-to-beat location, late-night comfort, and a touch of London history—all in one place.

Would 100% come back when...

Liked: Amazing stay for our first time in London! Would 100% stay again. We had the standard double room for 2 people with 2 bags each and we still had room in there for all of it! Best location in convent garden and the staff were incredible and were so attentive to our needs.
Disliked: I liked everything!

Great location, but the staff...

Liked: Location is excellent but the staff is horrible.
Disliked: I found it frustrating that the staff often didn’t remember or note down requests. I would ask for something, and by the next day, it was like it never happened—they’d say ‘oh no’ or act surprised. It made the experience feel disorganized and less attentive than expected.

Good

Liked: Location was ideal for what I was doing.Very central for so much of LondonThe toiletries provided were very nicePlenty of plug sockets but a very small bedside table cluttered with the telephone.
Disliked: The room was a superior single room. Very small absolutely no outlook other than the yard. The wardrobe boasted three hangers, so positioned so I could not hang either my dress or skirt due to the configuration of safe etc. The shower cubicle had a very high step, a handle inside was helpful but nothing outside to help getting back out.
