Comfortable and friendly. Great breakfast.

Liked: Staff friendly and helpful. Room nice and spacious. Breakfast excellent - good choice and very tasty. Location good - walking distance of Kendal and drivable to other towns and tourist destinations.
Disliked: When we booked we believed the pool, sauna and jacuzzi would be available to use. But on arrival the hotel was being refurbished making it impossible to use the leisure facilities.

Liked: Beds very comfy, food exceptional, staff very friendly
Disliked: It's on a busy road, there was work going on and the workmen used reception as their office (even when the reception asked them not to) we were hoping to spend time together in the bar/reception as a family of 7 getting together for some family celebrations but it really wasn't comfortable. The corridors had a terrible smell (perhaps wet plaster from the extensive works being carried out). If we'd known about the building work we would not have stayed there.

An enjoyable break in a...

Liked: The rooms we had, including the friends we travelled with, were a tad cramped (ours had part of the sloping room which we had to avoid internally) but the staff were courteous and efficient and the breakfasts were excellent.
Disliked: Part of the hotel is undergoing renovation and there are obvious places where work is yet be completed which, unfortunately, included the swimming pool.

Liked: The best part was the staff member who was incredibly friendly and the bed was very comfortable.
Disliked: I’m not sure if our room had been recently renovated or was yet to be renovated but there was mold on the curtains, the fixtures weren’t fitted properly at all nor was the carpet. There was random wires hanging from the side of the bed that had a plastic bag wrapped around them. The heating didn’t work so after getting soaked from being outside all day our clothes smelled damp as there was no where to dry them or our towels. We thought that the swimming pool would be available but the whole hotel was undergoing renovations which wasn’t mentioned when we booked. Really for the price and that it was rated 4 stars on booking.com it really was not worth the price we paid. Bit disappointing really.
