Disliked: The sink was blocked, water couldn’t flow out, to use the shower it needs a PhD - at the end I gave up and showered either cold or hot … Basics that didn’t work gives it a less positive rating

Disliked: Poor shower hardly works. Television not working and even though I reported it still not repaired room notvreadyvatc3pm even after a message saying it would be. Nobody on reception of 10 minutes when I arrived.

Disliked: No water pressure at all, couldn’t have a shower in the evening or the morning. 3 colleagues had exactly the same.

Disliked: The shower in room 49 was appalling - it either dripped boiling hot water or dripped freezing cold. The floor was disgustingly dirty as was evidenced by mopping it with the bath mat. The room was not well sound insulated and I could hear the couple next door. The service was very very slow for food The dinning room needed a deep cleaning - it hasnt been swept for years I suspect as was evidenced by the muck under the service station In short, a hotel that has huge potential but lacking in so many details

Would not return. Very unimpressed.

Liked: The only real positive was Aga who served us for breakfast (which was also quite nice). She was lovely, she really went out of her way to make sure we had all we needed, and maybe someone with that kind of attitude should be working on reception or looking after guests day to day.
Disliked: Where do I start. We requested an early check-in as we had made plans for the day, this was something that was said to be a possibility when booking, we only wanted to check-in at 2pm instead of 3pm. In any case, after following this up a few times (and being told 'subject to availability') on the day of check-in I received a reply quite bluntly to say it is not something that the hotel offers and it would be 3pm. On arriving, at 2.15pm, I did ask whether the room would be ready a little bit earlier than 3pm, I was told by the quite unfriendly receptionist that it would be ready in an hours time. I responded by saying we needed it ready be 3pm, which I was then told it would be ! We checked in to our room, I had requested and paid for a cot for our 2 year old. The cot had not been put up properly, and there was no mattress for our child to sleep on, just a towel !! There was no cover for our child either. So, I went back downstairs to find out what was going on, I was told that housekeeping would go back up and sort this out. When we returned after our trip out I found there was still no mattress, instead a bed cover had been folded up to make a mattress, and there was just a towel for a sheet, so, I went back down to reception. I was then told that the hotel does not provide mattresses for the cots !?!?! So, I said forget about the cot, our child will have to sleep in the bed with us. There was also a wedding going on that day, I wonder if any of the children at the wedding party who were sleeping in cots also did not have a mattress to sleep on (unlikely) .... The room itself was not anywhere near comparable with the photos on the website, it was dirty, there were stains on most of the furniture, there were rotten skirting boards in the bathroom. The cup that you would put your toothbrushes in was disgusting, didn't look like it had been cleaned in a long time. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Very unimpressed and would not return.

Liked: Hotel needs investment. Dated interior decor in rooms. Ceilings should signs of leakage over the years and are very basic.
Disliked: Lacking in investment and very dated decor throughout. Reliance on student labour resulted in very poor food and bar service. Cleanliness throughout needs addressing.
