Tired old hotel.

Passable
Liked: Location was good. Staff friendly.
Disliked: No air conditioning, just a desk fan. It's not acceptable on a hot night. Breakfast was good, but it took a long time to replenish the food. Very few staff at breakfast. Although a deluxe room, it was quite small. I wouldn't want to stay in the room for longer than a couple of nights.

Really totally awful. Do not...
Liked: The beautiful garden looking down to the lake. The staff were helpful but clueless.
Disliked: Absolutely dreadful. Appalling. Grubby. Totally neglected. Flies flew out of our towels and it was absolutely disgusting.

More shabby than chic, great...
Liked: The setting is lovely, period property set in acres overlooking a lake. We upgraded to one of the suites which had a view of the lake rather than the car park and that view was lovely, it was a great size. There are some lovely touches, with some nice period furniture dotted around the house. Svetlana on reception couldn't have been more helpful, smiley welcome and she really helped with sorting out a taxi, getting us fresh milk and searching for some slippers for us - she couldn't have done more. Also the staff at breakfast, in the bar were all helpful. Good parking.
Disliked: The decor, especially some of the furniture in the room really needed replacing. Only one small bottle of water which wasn't replenished the next day. The room had a smell of drains and there wasn't any dressing gowns (despite a search). Pillows were horrible. The air conditioning installed in the room wasn't working, so there was a mobile unit in the corner of the room - effective, but really noisy so it couldn't be run at night. Wifi wasn't that good in the room. This place could be wonderful, but some major investment needed.

Nice location, friendly reception staff,...
Liked: The location and spaciousness. The garden rooms had an area where you could sit outside. The reception staff were pleasant and welcoming.
Disliked: Things didn't get off to a good start, when the chap behind the Juniper bar overcharged me for drinks & meal, he rectified it when I queried it, but I felt as a lone elderly female he might have been trying it on.The shower in parts, had black mould on the tiles. The tv didnt work, I noticed the cable hanging out and couldnt see where to put it back in.Spiders webs on and around the A/C, and in corner of the room, this I didn't really notice till the night before I left. I asked for my room to be made up, when I returned late in the evening, the teas, coffee and milk hadn't been replenished, I phoned reception no answer, so had to trudge to reception to request them.
