Liked: The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice. Excellent welcome and care from the staff. It was my husband’s birthday and they responded with the generous offer of Bucks Fizz for breakfast!
Disliked: The decor is tired and needs a refresh but I understand that the owners have only just taken over. I booked through Booking.com and had to pay extra for the breakfast.

Liked: Excellent food. Friendly staff. Lovely swimming pool.
Disliked: the hotel is still 'getting on its feet', having been taken over by new owners (who are very nice - and he is an excellent chef) So not quite everything 'in place', eg. no towel rails in our bathroom, no menu at breakfast. We were the only residents, at a cold time, so it seemed a bit chilly and empty (we had meals in the pleasantly refurbished bar). No doubt it will feel different when there are more people staying. No curtains / blinds yet in public rooms, so it didn't feel as 'cosy' as our last visit 6 years ago!

Liked: Staff and hotel were just delightful. So rare to find this family run, independent place now. Three generations of our family had a brilliant time.
Disliked: Everything was delightful. The decor has not, perhaps, been updated in a while, but honestly everything else is so delightful it really does not matter. It is all clean, comfortable, and beautifully serviced
