Great location with free car...

Liked: The Youth Hostel is located within 5 mins walk to the Stirling Castle. Free car park available. Rooms are small and basic but clean. Good place to stay for those who like a kitchen for self-catered food. General courtesy expected since we are sharing a big communal kitchen but everyone is pleasant.
Disliked: If only en-suite shower is a little more spacious.

Nice place

Liked: Near the town centre, castle. Nice and friendly staff. Place is clean.
Disliked: Uphill going to the hostel from the train station. But I guess Stirling is in one big hill. Room floor creaks with each step. I was just extra conscious cause my roommate was sleeping when I got in. The shower in the room (with no door, and just a curtain) is a bit... different. If not weird. Haha doesn't really feel very private haha

Value for money and friendly...

Liked: We stayed here while attending an event in Glasgow as we had friends who stayed in Stirling. This meant we were late checking in, but the night porter was really friendly. Great value for money, this is the third time I've stayed at this hostel and always had a good experience.
Disliked: The room was really warm when we arrived but this was due to a radiator being left on, so was easy to fix. We stayed in a twin room and the window was high up so we weren't able to open it, which wasn't ideal!

Great location, very basic accommodation

Liked: Shower pressure was good and it was clean
Disliked: No hanging space or shelves to put things on when showering. Soap dispenser broken. No blind or stick to close sky light. Noisy. Limited parking

I would stay here again...

Liked: The location was fantastic and the kitchen was really clean. Plenty of space in the communal area, chatted to some lovely people. The bedroom was a nice size and bed comfortable.
Disliked: Some of the staff were less then friendly. Guy at check in was really unwelcoming and unhelpful. The bedroom could have done with a dust. Also the window didnt shut properly letting in a draft.

Liked: Creepy or not, it's awesome to enter to the property. It's an old Stirling Building with it's own mausoleum and small cemetery on the right. We felt the history while coming inside. We left the luggage because we arrive early. They told us to leave it under the stair (were everyone could grab it in my country, but not there, it was very safe). It was very well located, next to the Jail, and the cemetery, and it only took minutes to get to the Castle on foot. The room was ok, it had a HUGE shower, and a toilet (very clean, you could feel the smell of disinfectant, but not too much). It Also had a big Skylight. The kitchen was awesome! Very big, and well equipped. They had this ?Free food? box, were you could put your extra stuff you wouldn?t use for somebody else to use it. The also had a spectacular way to recycle (they received an award for that). At the dining room you had a candy and pringles dispenser, and a big comfy living room with a big tv. You had the option to get your breakfast served paying a small amount (can?t remember, we didn?t use it) and that kitchen was huge too, school like. The staff was a bit rough at first impression but kind (you could see them smile if one said something silly ? ). The girl working in the evening was very kind! They lend you a hairdryer if needed and also sell a lot of stuff in the reception. They had a lot of tourism information too.
Disliked: Too many stairs! not an actual problem for us, but being Stirling a city where you have to walk a lot and go up and down on the hills, once you got to your room you don?t want to come down. People with accessibility needs should ask if there are rooms on the ground floor. Also, needs more night lamps.

Great location, but overpriced

Liked: Fabulous location in a beautiful stone building not far from the castle. Check-in was easy. Clean, but spartan rooms.
Disliked: You expect bare bones rooms in a hostel, but this one felt overpriced for that. Beds may not be big enough for taller travelers.
