Modern Comfort with a Quirky Twist in the Heart of Portland

Staypineapple At Hotel Rose delivers a bold, playful style in a sleek downtown Portland location—just steps from the waterfront and within easy reach of the city's top concert halls and nightlife. With bright, modern rooms, complimentary bicycles, and a focus on fun, it's ideal for travelers who want personality with their pillow.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans flock here for the location—just a quick 2-mile trip to the Rose Quarter and walking distance to smaller live music venues and lounges. The 24-hour reception makes late arrivals after encore sets a breeze, and the hotel's vibe strikes a nice balance between lively and restful. Plus, free high-speed Wi-Fi makes it easy to post your concert highlights before bedtime.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, central base to explore Portland’s music scene.
  • Solo travelers coming to see a bucket-list show and wanting a safe, stylish spot to crash.
  • Couples turning a concert into a memorable weekend getaway.
  • Fans needing post-show recovery in a quieter, well-designed space.
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort and location.

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full on-site restaurant, the hotel is surrounded by downtown Portland’s eclectic food scene—great for late-night bites. The in-room gourmet coffee machine is a morning savior, and there are plenty of brunch spots within a short walk for those slow post-concert mornings. Room service isn’t 24/7, but the front desk can point you to nearby eats whatever the hour.

Nightlife Options

You're right in the mix—bars, lounges, and music venues are all walkable. Whether you're after a dive bar with vinyl on the jukebox or a sleek rooftop cocktail, downtown Portland delivers. The hotel has a laid-back atmosphere perfect for a nightcap, though it doesn’t host live music on-site.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, central location, and stylish rooms with modern perks like free bottled water and fast Wi-Fi. The décor gets praise for being fun and distinctive, and many reviewers highlight the complimentary bikes as a great way to explore Portland before showtime.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel doesn’t have a full-service restaurant or bar, which might be a letdown if you’re hoping to dine in after a late show. Some guests mention that the street noise can be noticeable—pack earplugs just in case if you're a light sleeper.

The Bottom Line

Staypineapple At Hotel Rose is a lively, well-located pick for concert-goers who want downtown access, modern comfort, and a touch of Portland quirk.

Cynthia, Beaverton, visiting Roseland Theater

The best part of this hotel was that we had a view of the city. If you're wanting to be close to everything stay here! Everything we wanted to do was a few foot steps and/or Uber/Lyft call away. This hotel is beautiful and comfortable.

Liked: How kind and informative the staff was - they made me feel at home away from home!
Disliked: Parking cost was high, but understandable.

We really enjoyed our stay!

Liked: Customer service was top notch! Everyone was friendly and helpful. They were also accommodating for earlier check-in when I inquired about luggage storage. This was our first time staying Pineapple but it won’t be the last.

I wanted to love it....

Liked: Lobby staff, even though short staffed, was super sweet and helpful. They were great about refunding the rest of my stay because my room was, sadly, a dump.Bed was super comfy and clean.Towels were soft and luxurious.
Disliked: I wanted to love this hotel. I had high expectations after staying at 3 other StayPineapple hotels (The Maxwell in Seattle, Hotel Z in San Diego, Stay Pineapple South Boston - all three were amazing).Room smelled like cigarette butts and the AC was blasting and the room was freezing (in May). I booked a deluxe room, and there was nothing deluxe about it. I was facing the onramp to the bridge, and could hear traffic through shut windows (which were dirty). I opened the windows to air it out. I had to go down and ask how to adjust the AC and was notified it is not adjustable. Receptionist said I could turn it up past 90 and it will shut the vent. That didn't work but then I turned it all the way down it did turn off. That and opening the windows actually helped with the smell after I went out for a couple of hours and came back. It wasn't hot enough that I needed AC. Seems like the AC vents are the problem. In the bathroom, the soap dispensers had been filled but the lids were sitting on the ledge in the shower, and quite scummy. It was overall clean but not finished. The toilet seat was bubbled up at the front and peeling on the side. Bathroom wasn't horrible.I was not able to check another room because there was only one person on staff and nobody to "escort" me to the room.Unfortunately, this hotel is not well maintained. It looks like it was nice at one point years ago. It needs an overhaul. Some fresh paint and better insulated windows. Windows were filthy too.If this was a budget hotel for under $100/night, I would have been ok with it, but paying almost $150/night, it was a bit of a dump.I was able to walk up the street to another hotel that had a last minute deal. I looked at their standard room and it was so much nicer. Luckily I was able to get the rest of my nights here refunded. I stayed the first night and moved to the other hotel the next day.

Disappointing

Liked: When we cancelled our booking the front desk was helpful.
Disliked: The day of check-in there was an event in town that closed some of the roads. The hotel sent me a map of streets that were open so I could navigate to the property—this map was inaccurate. I called the front desk to ask how to navigate the road closures and get to the hotel, the person that answered said they had no idea, and ended the call with “I hope you can get here!” Ultimately we drove around for 2+ hours in bad traffic before we realized that the hotel was literally inaccessible due to the road closures. The streets were expected to be closed until around midnight, so we were forced to cancel our reservation and book a different place across town. I wish the staff had been more helpful.

Great nights sleep!

Liked: Clean, really comfy bed, lovely welcoming staff
Disliked: While location is good, it’s a little out of the way - I found it a few blocks too far outside of the main part of town as a solo female traveller

Exceptional

Liked: We always stay here. It’s an amazing place to stay!
Disliked: Only thing that was annoying and NO fault of the hotel. With the parade and rose city festival. Downtown was busy and loud all night.
